Marvel’s move into television hasn’t been consistently successful. While WandaVision initially suggested their winning streak from movies would continue on Disney+, subsequent shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier proved that wasn’t quite the case. For every series that didn’t gain much attention – such as Secret Invasion and Echo – there have been others, like Loki and X-Men ’97, that quickly became fan favorites.
Marvel’s new series, Wonder Man, is arriving next week, and early reviews are surprisingly positive. Despite concerns about releasing the whole season at once in January, Wonder Man currently has a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 31 reviews. This makes it a critical success and, notably, surpasses the previous high score held by WandaVision.
Marvel’s Wonder Man Becomes One of the MCU’s Top-Rated Shows

Before reviews for Wonder Man came out, the five Marvel shows with the highest ratings were:
- X-Men ’97 – 99%
- Ms. Marvel – 98%
- Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man – 97%
- Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – 95%
- WandaVision – 92%
The new series Wonder Man is receiving very positive reviews, currently holding a 94% rating. This has bumped it into the top 5 Marvel shows, replacing WandaVision. However, there’s some debate about whether Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. should even be included in these rankings. While the show doesn’t conflict with the main MCU movies, the movies also don’t acknowledge it. If you don’t consider S.H.I.E.L.D. part of the official MCU, then WandaVision hasn’t actually been pushed out of the top 5 – it’s Daredevil that Wonder Man would be replacing.
Of course, Wonder Man currently has only 31 reviews, and that number will likely increase as more critics see it in the coming days. Because of this, its score is likely to change, and WandaVision could easily reclaim its spot as one of the top five highest-rated Marvel shows within the next week.
What really grabbed me about the series was the incredible connection between Yahya Abdul-Mateen’s Simon Williams and Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery – it was so fun to see Trevor back after Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi! I was completely invested in their dynamic, and like Simon Gallagher from ComicBook, I’m already hoping for more development of their relationship and eager to see where the story goes after that intriguing finale.
I’m so excited – Wonder Man is almost here! It’s hard to say how Marvel fans will react, but right now, it looks like this show might be a real surprise hit for the MCU. I’m really hoping it connects with everyone!
