As a huge Power Rangers fan, I still remember being completely shocked when Tommy Oliver showed up as the White Ranger – it was such an amazing twist! He quickly became the leader, not just on the show but in the movie too. We’ve seen different versions of the White Ranger over the years, but honestly, the latest one feels like the strongest yet. I’m really excited to see what they do with this new version!
The latest version of the White Ranger appears in issue #4 of BOOM! Studios’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and it’s a surprising reveal, just like the original. A new White Ranger arrives to assist Leonardo and Tommy (as the Green Ranger), and together they easily defeat Bebop and Rocksteady after they transform. The Ranger is then revealed to be Splinter, who has unexpectedly returned from the dead to take on the role.
Splinter Might Be Power Rangers’ Most Powerful White Ranger Ever (And Here’s Why)
Splinter immediately jumps into action, swiftly defeating a group of Putties with a flurry of powerful strikes and throws. While his increased speed and strength are impressive, Splinter truly shines by combining years of martial arts training with smart strategy and patience, waiting for the ideal opportunity to attack.
Bebop and Rocksteady were already dangerous with their new abilities, but Splinter quickly defeated them both. He explained during the fight that while they were strong, they lacked control. He knocked out Bebop with a single blow. When Rocksteady attacked, Splinter easily dodged and used his staff to send Rocksteady crashing headfirst into a rock wall.
Splinter doesn’t miss a beat, even throwing a jab at Rocksteady, implying his master would have given him better self-control if he were truly valued. He also hints at a mysterious connection to the Morphin Grid, explaining his return from death by saying the Grid’s power protected him when he needed it, allowing him to come back and safeguard others. It seems the Grid acted on its own to save Splinter, and as a result, he’s now become the new White Ranger.
Splinter’s already a skilled and experienced martial artist, so this significant power boost makes him one of the strongest White Rangers we’ve seen. Hopefully, we’ll see even more of his strength as the series builds toward its final episodes.
