I’ve been building computers for more than ten years, and I usually focused on performance over appearance when choosing a case. While some cool-looking cases tempted me, I often saw ones that were unnecessarily large and over-the-top. However, HYTE’s designs have caught my attention, especially after I tried out their Y70 Touch – a unique case with a built-in vertical touchscreen that I couldn’t resist.
It was definitely roomy and simple to build inside, but that’s largely because it’s quite small – about the size of a typical fish tank. While some people have the room for huge PC cases, we don’t. Recently, at CES 2026, we saw the new HYTE X50 – a unique, rounded case with adorable cat paw feet. And now, my wife absolutely wants one – she insists she needs it!
Where can you buy the HYTE X50?

You can buy the X50 at HYTE.com for $159.99. It’s available in six different colors: Snow White, Pitch Black, Wild Cherry (red), Matcha (green), Strawberry Milk (pink), and Taro Milk (purple).
For a more affordable option, the HYTE X50 Air costs $129.99. It replaces the curved glass side panel with a metallic grill featuring numerous small holes to improve airflow.
You can find the HYTE X50 case at several retailers like Amazon and Best Buy, all offering it at the same price. Newegg also sells the X50.
You should have no trouble finding and buying the HYTE X50 in your preferred color – there are plenty available. Also, keep in mind the case doesn’t come with fans, so I suggest getting a 4-pack of FA12 fans directly from HYTE’s website.

As of today, the HYTE FA12 case is listed on Amazon, but it’s being sold for more than the suggested retail price. Best Buy and Newegg currently don’t have the case or its fans in stock. The best way to buy both right now is directly from HYTE’s website, which should get you everything you need to start building immediately.
Is the HYTE X50 a good PC case?

I have to say, the X50 case is really striking – it’s wide and substantial, and features a huge, curved tempered glass panel on the front and top. Because of that design, you can’t mount radiators for all-in-one liquid coolers on top, but honestly, there are plenty of other places to add fans for great airflow. It has mounting points for fans all over the case.
You don’t get top-mounting options for radiators, but you’re hardly lacking in airflow options.
To match the setup we showcased at CES, I’ll use three 120mm fans to pull air in from the bottom, three more at the front, and one fan to exhaust air out the back. This leaves space on the side for a 360mm liquid cooler. That brings the total fan count to ten inside the case – eleven if you include the power supply fan, but that’s a minor detail. I’ll use three ARCTIC P12 fans to get things started.

Aside from the adorable paw-shaped feet and useful magnetic dust filter, the power supply cover on top was a surprisingly unusual feature. It feels like something from older computer cases, but it has a drawback: it can draw air from inside the case into the power supply.
It looked like the case would have good airflow right away, with a large exhaust fan pushing hot air out. This should prevent much heat from building up inside, and the power supply’s fan seemed capable of keeping things cool on its own. We’ll find out for sure when we test it.
Does the HYTE X50 have any issues?

The X50 has one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 port and two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1×1 ports on its top side, plus a headphone/microphone combo jack. This means you’ll need four separate cables to connect it to your monitor. The ports are generally reliable, although the USB-A ports feel a bit stiff when plugging things in – almost as if they’re slightly too small. They function perfectly, though.
The USB-A ports are a little crunchy, as if they’re ever-so-slightly too small for peripherals.
It’s actually preferable to have a snug fit rather than a loose one where cables could easily come unplugged. The power switch is a physical button with a light around it – it’s a bit much, but it works well. It clicks satisfyingly and the light confirms it’s on.

My biggest challenge when building with the X50 case was connecting HYTE’s FA12 Taro fans. While the fans include a cable to link them together, I consistently found the cable wasn’t long enough to reach from the top fan to the fan header, even when routing it through the case’s channels.
To install it, I had to carefully maneuver around the be quiet! Light Loop 360 AIO cooler. There was a small gap where it fit, and it wasn’t immediately obvious, but it was the only minor issue I encountered. A simple fan extension cable would easily fix it, so it wasn’t a significant problem.
Should you buy the HYTE X50?

You should buy this if …
✅ You want a unique, quirky case with great airflow
✅ You need extra space for multiple PCIe components
You should not buy this if …
❌ You have a weak desk that won’t handle heavy cases
❌ You prefer top-mounted cooling solutions
As a researcher, I’ve found the HYTE X50 isn’t *bad* by any means. Its drawbacks aren’t design flaws, but rather consequences of the case’s unique style. It’s definitely heavy, but that’s mostly due to the curved glass, and I actually appreciate that it feels solid. While it doesn’t support top-mounted AIO coolers, that seems like a deliberate design decision, especially since it accommodates two 360mm radiators in the front.
This case is beautiful and has a fun, hidden feature you rarely get to see. My wife loves how it looks, and I’m impressed by how cool it stays, even with lots of fans installed. While HYTE’s matching fans are a bit pricey, you can easily use other fans instead. Overall, I’m really impressed with this case.
