Chris Pratt’s Dream MCU Team-Up Isn’t The Crossover Marvel Fans Will Want

Chris Pratt has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, and there’s still one character he’s hoping to share the screen with. Throughout his time as Star-Lord, he led the Guardians of the Galaxy, which included Gamora, Rocket, Groot, Mantis, Nebula, and Drax. He fought against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and later teamed up with Thor in Thor: Love & Thunder. Most recently, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, his journey with the Guardians came to a close after Gamora’s departure, and he finally returned to Earth to reunite with his grandfather, who hadn’t seen him since he was taken as a child.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Chris Pratt revealed his dream co-star. With Marvel now having access to characters from other studios, like Fox, Pratt expressed his admiration for Ryan Reynolds’ performance as Deadpool. He believes Reynolds was incredible in the role and would be thrilled to simply observe him work on set, even if it was just as a spectator. Pratt stated that Deadpool is who he’d choose to appear in a movie with.

It’s understandable why people are excited about Chris Pratt becoming a major action star through roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Jurassic World, especially since he began his career in comedy. The idea of him acting alongside Ryan Reynolds – with Star-Lord and Deadpool exchanging witty banter – definitely sounds fun and could create some hilarious scenes. However, there’s another character in the MCU who would be a more fitting match for Star-Lord.

Star-Lord Should Meet Nova Instead

Chris Pratt is eager to see his character, Star-Lord, team up with Deadpool, which would likely be very funny. However, a more compelling pairing would be Star-Lord and Nova. In Marvel Comics, their friendship was one of the strongest and most beloved – they consistently understood each other, shared a deep bond like brothers, and always reconciled after disagreements. While Luke Cage and Iron Fist are a popular Marvel duo, Star-Lord and Nova deserve a place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well, offering a similarly fantastic dynamic.

As a longtime comic and MCU fan, I’ve always loved the dynamic between Star-Lord and Nova. It’s a bummer they’re not speaking in the comics right now – something about Star-Lord keeping secrets after the ‘Empyre’ storyline and Nova wanting everyone to know the truth. But honestly, the MCU doesn’t have to get bogged down in all that. They can just give us the classic versions of Peter Quill and Richard Ryder that we all adore! I mean, Richard was just a kid when he started with the Nova Corps, and Peter was always a bit of a goofball. But they both grew up to be seriously experienced soldiers, fighting in tons of battles, and they always had each other’s backs – until recently, apparently. I’m hoping the movie handles their history with a little more simplicity and focuses on their old connection.

Look, anything could happen, right? Peter Quill (Star-Lord) is back on Earth now, but who knows where he’ll be after Secret Wars? Marvel’s been hinting at big cosmic stuff for a while, and they’ve been talking about a Nova series for ages. Honestly, I’d love to see Richard Rider (Nova) and Peter team up during Secret Wars – maybe they both end up stuck in Battleworld? That could really open the door to some awesome cosmic adventures down the line, even potentially setting up an Annihilation War storyline. Star-Lord and Deadpool bouncing off each other would be hilarious, sure, but a Star-Lord/Nova team-up? That needs to happen.
