I was so thrilled to hear the news in January 2026 about Ouran High School Host Club! As a huge fan, I’ve been hoping for any announcements about a potential new anime season. It’s honestly one of the most charming and hilarious romantic comedies ever made, and it’s kept a dedicated fanbase worldwide, even after all this time. Back in 2006, Studio Bones did an amazing job adapting Bisco Hatori’s manga, giving us 26 episodes. While they only covered about half of the original story, and the season ended with a unique finale, it’s incredible how much love this series still gets after two decades! It really holds up.
Haruhi Fujioka is a student at Ouran Academy who unexpectedly gets involved with the school’s Host Club – a group of charming boys who are popular with the girls. When she accidentally damages a valuable vase, she has to work with them to pay it off, disguising herself as a boy to do so. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the anime, and fans are hoping it will lead to a new season, eagerly awaiting official news.
Ouran High School Host Club Needs to Return With a Reboot

To mark its 20th anniversary, an official social media account, @ouran_20th, was launched to share news and updates. It quickly gained over 90,000 followers, and that number is still growing! Although an anime revival hasn’t been officially announced, the excitement around the anniversary suggests an announcement could come soon. The original anime series didn’t cover the entire story, leaving fans wanting more for two decades. While a continuation isn’t impossible, the older animation style might not fit a sequel, making a fresh reboot a potentially better option.
The original anime and manga have different endings, making a new adaptation a great opportunity to tell the complete story. A fresh anime series could also introduce the story to a new generation of fans who may not know the 2000s version. The manga continued for years after the anime finished, and with the series more popular than ever, fans are eager for a new adaptation to follow their favorite characters. You can currently watch the original anime on Netflix and Crunchyroll.
