The fate of Shrinkingseason 4 has been decided a day ahead of season 3’s debut.
The popular Apple TV+ series Shrinking stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. Segel plays Jimmy, a therapist coping with the loss of his wife, Tia, and using unique approaches with his patients. Ford plays Paul, a seasoned therapist who mentors Jimmy. The third season begins January 28th with a special hour-long episode, following Jimmy’s continued healing process and Paul’s struggle with increasing symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
Apple TV+ has renewed the popular comedy Shrinking for a fourth season. Originally, the show was intended to run for just three seasons, but plans have changed. This is similar to what happened with another Apple TV+ hit, Ted Lasso, which was also initially planned for three seasons before being renewed. Bill Lawrence co-created Shrinking with Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein.
Jason Goldstein first appeared on the show as the character Louis in season 2, and it was revealed that Louis was responsible for the car accident that killed Jimmy’s wife. The second season concluded with Jimmy saving Louis’ life, and the two characters began to connect. Goldstein will return for season 3, along with Jessica Williams, Lukita Maxwell, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Christa Miller, and Ted McGinley, all reprising their roles.
This season, Michael J. Fox will appear as a guest star, playing a role connected to Paul’s story. Jeff Daniels joins the cast as Jimmy’s father, and Sherry Cola, Isabella Gomez, and Candice Bergen are all new to the show.
Critics and audiences alike are loving Shrinking. The show currently boasts a 93% critics’ score and an 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 3 continues the show’s strong performance, maintaining high praise even after multiple seasons, with a debut critics’ score of 92%.
Originally, Shrinking was planned for three seasons, and it’s now in a good position to finish telling the story of Jimmy’s life after losing his wife, Tia – as a husband, father, and therapist. However, the show has been renewed for a fourth season, meaning there’s more to come for Jimmy, Paul, and the other characters.
