Ray J Shares His Heart Is “Beating 25 Percent” After Hospitalization

Ray J is on the mend.

I was so worried when I heard about Ray J being hospitalized, but he just gave an update! It turns out he had pneumonia, and thankfully, he’s sharing how he’s doing now. It’s a relief to hear from him directly and know he’s on the mend.

I’ve been dealing with a really serious health issue – my heart is only functioning at 25 percent. Honestly, it’s been scary, but I’m staying positive and focused on my recovery. I’m so grateful for all the love and prayers I’ve received while I’ve been in the hospital. Your support means the world to me, and I truly believe staying on the right path will get me through this.

The 45-year-old also expressed gratitude to his fans for standing by him during his health challenges, writing, “I nearly died! Your prayers saved me.”

This includes his sister, Brandy, and his co-star from Love Cabin, Shila Hasanoff, who Ray J said was at the hospital while he was sick.

“There’s a few people that’s helped me kind of survive this,” he continued. “I love you, Sheila.”

This wasn’t the first time Ray J had pneumonia. He was also treated for it in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He told TMZ he believed he was at death’s door after being placed in a hospital wing with COVID-19 patients, even though his own tests were negative. He said he began praying and felt comforted by his faith, trusting that everything would be alright.

While Ray J was receiving medical attention, he was also going through a divorce from Princess Love, with whom he has two children: a 7-year-old daughter named Melody and a 5-year-old son named Epik.

As a longtime follower of theirs, it was sadly announced in 2024 that they’ve split up again. It’s particularly frustrating because they actually went through the process of filing for divorce before, but the court ended up dismissing it, and now here we are with another separation.

I’m absolutely heartbroken, but I just read that they’ve decided to split up. Apparently, they’ve been talking it over, even with professionals, and they’ve come to the conclusion that going their separate ways is the best thing for both of them. They released a statement saying it wasn’t a rash decision and that they still respect each other and care about each other’s happiness, which… honestly, just makes it even harder. I just… I really thought they were endgame.

Although we are getting divorced, we are dedicated to raising our children together and creating a healthy, supportive family environment.

Lupita Nyong’o received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her role in 12 Years a Slave.

She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, when she shared on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

She explained that growing up, many of us are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of being a woman. This often leaves us dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap to form in her abdominal muscles.

“It’s been a really difficult time,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors actually told me, just within the last year, that I was facing a life-threatening situation.”

He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying, “My body has a few quirks and isn’t quite working perfectly.”

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital in extreme pain, literally crawling because of a terrible backache that flared up during a road trip with a friend.

He described a persistent tingling sensation, saying, “Even now, bringing my knees to my chest, it still feels tingly, which is really strange.” To give some context, he explained that just a few weeks ago he was squatting around 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat, or even stand on one leg without falling. He added, “It feels like I had a stroke.” He shared this on his Trading Secrets podcast in March 2025.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its downsides, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and receiving critical comments online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, which she called “the greatest news imaginable.” Amy expressed relief in a February 2024 newsletter that she was healthy and the condition would correct itself.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Though the symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for testing. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA, or transient ischemic attack. Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also went through a difficult time. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary and unexpected, but reassuring fans that he would be completely fine and was grateful he was on the mend.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, Foxx explained that he suffered a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could take aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

He initially saw a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.

After surgery, Foxx woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed every single one.

The reality TV star said she temporarily stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC competition show.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the show, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan quickly revealed she’d suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.

Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure was unsuccessful, leading to a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia Clarke is now fully recovered and says she’s “at a hundred per cent.”

She explained that while she could have gone home after the stroke, she was also dealing with lupus and kidney problems. Fortunately, Cori is now recovering well. “I’m doing great,” she said. “I just had to work on regaining some motor skills, but other than that, I’m fine.”

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she described a time when she was losing her hearing, unable to walk for more than a few minutes without needing to rest for hours, and experiencing constant stomach pain. She faced conflicting diagnoses from different doctors. Determined to find answers, Shailene, who has a background in herbalism and a holistic approach to wellness, sought help from both traditional doctors and alternative healers.

This health journey lasted for ten years, and the physical discomfort led to emotional challenges. She developed a fear of food due to her stomach problems, which then contributed to body image issues and questions about her identity and sense of self.

Ultimately, Shailene was able to resolve her health problems and is now feeling very well. She expressed her happiness at being able to say she is healthy again.
