Just after sharing their plans for the future of ARC Raiders, Embark Studios has launched its first big update of the year. Along with the update, they’ve announced changes to how they handle cheaters. Now, players caught cheating will face bans that get longer with each offense.
Players who break the rules in ARC Raiders will first be banned for 30 days. If they offend again, the ban will be extended to 60 days. A third offense will result in a permanent ban from the game. The developers also want players to know that this new system is still being put into place and isn’t fully active yet.
Embark Studios announced in their latest update that players who repeatedly break the rules will face increasing penalties. First offenses will result in a 30-day ban, followed by a 60-day ban, and ultimately a permanent ban.
As a fan of extraction shooters, I’ve noticed ARC Raiders seems a lot more forgiving than others. Take Escape From Tarkov, for example – they don’t mess around! If they catch you cheating even once, you’re banned immediately. ARC Raiders definitely feels different in that regard.
This update includes several key features. Players can now start a long-term project to create a Display Case to showcase trophies earned from completing challenging levels. Level 40+ players will also find new matchmaking options for Solos vs Squads, which offer bonus XP rewards. Finally, the Bird City map condition has been added to the Buried City map.
Embark Studios revealed its plans for new content in ARC Raiders last week, detailing a roadmap of upcoming updates. The first, called Headwinds, is launching now, with Shrouded Sky arriving in February, Flashpoint in March, and Riven Tides in April.
We have exciting updates planned for the next few months! In February, players can look forward to a new Player Project, map changes, a new map condition, and a new challenge from the ARC. March will bring another ARC challenge, a new Player Project, a new map condition, and some improvements to Scrappy the rooster. Finally, April will introduce even more content, including a brand new map and a large-scale ARC threat.
Virgil Watkins, the design lead for ARC Raiders, recently discussed Embark Studios’ plans to add even more challenging enemies to the game. While ARC Raiders already features massive, spider-like robots like the Queen and Matriarch, the studio is exploring other ways to increase the difficulty of the player-versus-environment (PvE) combat.
As players get better at the game – really learning the ins and outs and figuring out strategies – the drones we have now just aren’t as challenging anymore. We’ve noticed people are learning their attack patterns and finding ways to easily deal with them. So, we’re focusing on making the drones tougher and more complex to keep things interesting as players improve.
You can play ARC Raiders on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Read our original review to learn more about the game.
