Bluey defeats Stranger Things and more as most-streamed TV series of 2025

2025 was a standout year for TV, featuring the highly anticipated conclusion of Stranger Things, Billie Piper’s return to Doctor Who, the innovative series Adolescence, and the massive popularity of The Traitors.

Even with a lot of strong competition, the children’s show Bluey was the most-streamed program of the year – for the second year in a row!

If you haven’t heard of it yet, Bluey is this amazing Australian cartoon. It’s about Bluey, a super playful Blue Heeler puppy, and her little sister Bingo. Honestly, it’s not just for kids – I’m totally hooked!

Each episode is about seven minutes long and shows the sisters having fun and dealing with everyday life. The show highlights the importance of understanding feelings and portrays family relationships in a believable way.

Cartoon dogs have always been popular, with classics like Snoopy and Clifford the Big Red Dog capturing the hearts of generations.

The final season of Stranger Things was a huge hit, topping Netflix’s viewing charts for the last five weeks of the year with 25.1 billion minutes watched – making it the most popular Netflix original series of 2023. However, it couldn’t surpass the year’s most-watched show overall: an animated series about dogs.

Bluey remained the most-watched show on Disney+ for the second year in a row, racking up 45.2 billion minutes of viewing time, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings. However, in 2023, it was narrowly surpassed by Grey’s Anatomy, which benefits from having a much larger library of episodes – 455, compared to Bluey’s 154.

In 2025, Bluey was the most-streamed show with 45.2 billion minutes watched. Grey’s Anatomy came in a close second with 40.92 billion minutes, and Stranger Things was third at 39.95 billion. Rounding out the top five were NCIS with 36.94 billion minutes and SpongeBob SquarePants, another popular choice for kids, with 34.35 billion minutes.

You can watch every episode of Bluey on Disney+. In the UK, it’s also available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
