Jury Duty Season 2 Will Soon Be in Session— But With a Twist

All rise. Jury Duty is coming back.

Almost three years after Ronald Gladden, an everyday person who unexpectedly became a star, charmed viewers in the first season of the Amazon series alongside James Marsden, Amazon revealed the idea for season two: a company retreat. The show initially gained popularity for its premise similar to The Truman Show.

The second season, officially called Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, will center around Anthony, a temporary employee who thinks he’s at a company retreat for a small hot sauce business. This is according to a statement released by Prime Video on January 29th.

The new season of Company Retreat will begin streaming on Prime Video on March 20th with three episodes. Two more episodes will be released on March 27th, and the season will finish with a three-episode finale on April 3rd. Similar to the first season, Anthony—known only by his first name—doesn’t realize he’s part of a strange, staged reality with actors all around him.

The description notes that everyone around him is playing a part, and that every single moment, from meetings to breaks, has been carefully planned and controlled.

However, it appears more tension is brewing than the civil lawsuit backdrop from season one.

The company’s founder is retiring, and a power struggle is brewing between those who want to grow the business into a large corporation and those who want to maintain its original, small-business spirit. The future of the company is at stake.

A short preview released with the season two news doesn’t show Anthony, but hints at how he first responded to all the drama that’s coming.

In the January 29th trailer, Anthony says in a voiceover that if he told his parents about everything, they wouldn’t believe him and would think he was making it up.

The second season of Jury Duty builds on the popularity of the first, which originally aired on Amazon’s Freevee (now no longer operating). Created by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the show’s unique and wild concept, along with the charming personality of former participant Ronald, earned it two Emmy nominations and widespread praise from critics.

Since Ronald didn’t know the show would become so popular, his sudden fame felt as surreal as the dramatic scenes he saw in court.

“It hasn’t really sunk in yet,” Ronald said to TopMob News at the 2024 Golden Globes. “I’m still in shock, honestly. It feels like a dream, and I’m half expecting someone to tell me it was.”
