A single year has swiftly passed, and it’s time for another exciting tournament series at the Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim, California. These championships aren’t merely about fantastic merchandise, social media updates from influencers, or fierce battles; they also serve as a platform where The Pokémon Company reveals hints about what enthusiasts can anticipate from the franchise in the near future. At the end of each year’s event, they usually unveil a few sneak peeks during the closing ceremonies.
Instead of being a full-fledged Pokemon Presents event, this brief presentation usually offers an update about the latest developments in the Pokemon Trading Card Game and whichever video game is under production at the moment. This year, fans are optimistic that the announcements will involve updates on the remakes of Pokemon Black & White, but it’s highly unlikely these games will be highlighted in 2025.
This speculation about a re-release of the Pokemon TCG expansion Black Bolt & White Flare focusing on the Unova region for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been fueled by its upcoming release. Since there’s no precedent for a specialty set for an older generation, many fans have taken this as a hint that Unova will indeed be revisited on the Switch 2. However, it’s unlikely that this will occur during Worlds 2025 due to several significant factors.
Teasers Don’t Have a Timeline With Pokemon
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming Trading Card Game (TCG) release for Black & White, and the intriguing hints of the Unova region on the official Pokémon social media accounts. However, it doesn’t necessarily signal an imminent announcement for remakes. The Pokémon Company has a knack for tantalizing us with ideas and keeping us guessing. So, while we eagerly wait for more updates, let’s enjoy the journey as it unfolds!
In the games Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, you embark on a journey through the Unova region, uncovering new Pokémon, formidable trainers, and thrilling escapades!
What are your most cherished experiences from this installment of the series?

Anticipation periods for technological advancements or product launches may start up to six months to a year prior to the official announcement or unveiling, as demonstrated by the case of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, where enthusiasts were left guessing for several months before the release of a teaser trailer.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel that the buzz surrounding the upcoming World Championships pales in comparison to the anticipation usually generated by the imminent release of the Black & White remakes. These remakes seem to be bucking the usual trends and patterns we’ve come to expect, which only serves to heighten my excitement!
Pokemon Legends: Z-A is Too Close to Launch
It’s more plausible that The Pokemon Company will unveil a new trailer for “Pokemon Legends: Z-A,” which is set to release in October, rather than announcing remakes of “Black & White” at the Pokemon Worlds 2025 event. Given the close proximity to the launch and the anticipation surrounding the cross-generational game on the Switch, it seems more probable that we’ll see a trailer for “Z-A” rather than a remake announcement for “Black & White.
As a dedicated Pokémon fan, I’ve noticed that the flow of information about upcoming games is usually quite abundant, with teasers, social media updates, merchandise previews, and other hints dropping frequently as we approach the release date. However, this time around with Legends: Z-A, it feels like a change of pace. Instead of a steady stream of news bits, we’ve been getting larger trailers that deliver significant updates at specific points throughout the year.
It’s quite possible that an additional trailer, this time larger and longer, might debut during the closing ceremonies, featuring another significant unveiling for the game title to serve as the grand finale of the entire spectacle. Given the excitement surrounding the upcoming Legends video game, a remake announcement could feel premature and may not be warmly accepted by the audience.
It’s more probable that The Pokemon Company will concentrate on the forthcoming game, making sure they utilize every prominent chance for promotion leading up to its release, which is still several months away. With so many unanswered questions about Pokemon Legends: Z-A, fans will want some information ahead of time in order to decide whether to pre-order or grab the game on launch day.
Pokemon’s 30th Anniversary is in 2026
The main reason Black & White remakes won’t be unveiled during Worlds 2025 is probably because the announcement is being saved for the Pokemon Presents in 2026 instead. Since next year marks the 30th anniversary of the franchise, it’s likely that the events surrounding this milestone will be even more spectacular than those from the 25th anniversary. This means that they might want to save some exciting game announcements for the occasion.
For the 2026 February edition of Pokemon Presents, it’s highly anticipated that a remake of Black & White will steal the spotlight. It seems we might be embarking on a six-to-eight month buildup of excitement. This timeframe aligns with The Pokemon Company’s usual pattern, and the gradual unveiling of Unova content prior to the launch of Legends: Z-A will ensure a swift momentum post the new game release, as they can immediately capitalize on the hype.
Since The Pokemon Company intends to make significant announcements for the following year, it’s highly likely that no new game unveilings will occur at the 2025 Pokemon World Championships. Although this may disappoint fans, it doesn’t necessarily mean the remakes won’t materialize. With Legends: Z-A providing something to look forward to in the meantime, we’ll be eagerly awaiting the 2026 Pokemon Presents.
