PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers on PS4 and PS5 have something to be excited about! This top-tier subscription now includes access to a library of classic games from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP. While the PS Vita is still missing, Sony hasn’t ruled out adding it in the future. Right now, though, fans of PS3 games aren’t getting as much love compared to those who enjoy older consoles.
Okay, so you know how with PS Plus Premium, you can’t actually download PS3 games, you have to stream them? It’s kinda annoying already, but lately the streaming has been super unreliable – it just wasn’t working right a lot of the time. That meant a bunch of us PS Plus Premium subscribers couldn’t actually play the PS3 games we were paying for. Good news though, it looks like Sony finally fixed the issue, so hopefully we can all jump back into those classics now!
PS3 Games Just Got Better With PS Plus Premium
Several PlayStation Plus subscribers on Reddit are reporting that they can now stream PlayStation 3 games, a feature that had been broken for a while. Sony hasn’t officially confirmed a fix or even acknowledged the initial issue, but users are happy it seems to be working again.
We’ve noticed it’s been difficult to stream PS3 games with the Premium subscription lately. However, streaming is now working again – we’ve confirmed it by successfully playing Heavenly Sword.
One commenter expressed relief that the service they subscribe to was finally functioning, writing, “Thank God the thing I pay for finally works now.” Another simply stated they could now resume playing the game Castlevania.
We still don’t know exactly what caused the recent issue or why it took Sony so long to resolve it. However, the PS3 has consistently been a challenge for Sony because of its unusual internal design, making it incredibly difficult to support older games. That’s why PS3 games are only available through streaming, and this is unlikely to change. Sony doesn’t have an unlimited number of engineers who understand the PS3’s complex architecture, and those experts will eventually leave the company.
Just wanted to say, I’m always happy to hear what you guys think! Feel free to drop a comment and let me know your thoughts, or head over to the ComicBook Forum to chat with everyone else!
