The Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought a lot of comic book characters to life, becoming one of the most popular movie franchises ever. Other Marvel movies have also featured heroes from the comics. However, with decades of Marvel comics published, these films have only explored a small fraction of the characters available. There are still many fantastic heroes from the comics waiting to make their big-screen debut.
Marvel’s success isn’t just about its most famous heroes. The early Iron Man movies proved that even lesser-known characters can become incredibly popular. There are many other under-the-radar heroes from the comics who, with the right story and actors, could also become big stars. These characters deserve a chance to shine on the big screen.
7) Moondragon

Although Moondragon was only quickly referenced in Guardians of the Galaxy, the line served to establish a sad part of Drax’s history and confirmed her death within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comics, Moondragon is Drax’s daughter and a remarkably powerful telepath. Because the movie already stated she was dead, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see Moondragon join the Avengers in the MCU.
6) Nighthawk

I’ve always thought Nighthawk is a seriously underrated Marvel character – kind of like if Batman existed in the Marvel Universe! He started as a villain but turned good, and his backstory is really compelling. What’s even cooler is he’s actually connected to other MCU characters like Daredevil and even Mephisto in the comics, which feels like a perfect way to bring him into the movies. They actually used his name briefly in that All Hail the King short, but we’ve never really seen him as a character – a hero or a villain – and I think that’s a huge missed opportunity.
5) Quasar

Quasar isn’t a household name among Marvel heroes, but he’s exceptionally powerful. The name ‘Quasar’ has been used by several characters in Marvel comics, and they all share a cosmic-level power derived from the Quantum Bands – technology we’ve already seen hinted at in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through Ms. Marvel. Bringing the classic Quasar, Wendell Vaughn, into the MCU would be a fantastic way to utilize the character, as he has a lot of potential for exciting stories on the big screen.
4) Balder

Thor and Loki’s sibling dynamic has been central to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in the original comics, they actually have a third brother. Balder the Brave, based on the Norse god, is another son of Odin. While there were plans for him to appear in the movies and he’s been mentioned, a cameo never materialized. Given how popular Thor and Loki are, adding Balder to the MCU would make a lot of sense for future stories.
3) Jericho Drumm

Jericho Drumm, who has been known as both Brother Voodoo and Doctor Voodoo, is a powerful character in the Marvel Universe. A key moment for him was becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, demonstrating his incredible magical abilities. Although his original portrayal could be updated for today’s audiences, Drumm has the potential to become a popular and formidable magic-user in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
2) Demolition Man

Demolition Man is a potentially great Marvel hero who hasn’t gotten a fair chance in the movies. The recent Captain America: Brave New World film introduced a character named Dennis Dunphy, who was quickly killed off, wasting the opportunity to explore the hero’s complex and moving backstory from the comics. So far, a truly faithful adaptation of Demolition Man hasn’t been attempted on screen.
1) Squirrel Girl

Fans frequently mention Squirrel Girl as a Marvel hero deserving of her own movie. While she’s known for lighter, more humorous comic book stories, she’s both powerful and likable enough to lead a film. It’s a shame such a charming and unique character hasn’t made it to the big screen yet, as she’s a fan favorite with a lot of potential.
