Bad Bunny is kicking off Super Bowl week with some vocal rest.
Just a week before he was set to headline the 2026 halftime show, Bad Bunny attended the 2026 Grammys. Although he had six nominations, he told host Trevor Noah that he wouldn’t be performing at the awards ceremony.
Trevor asked Bad Bunny at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1st if it was true that performers at the Super Bowl are contractually prohibited from also performing at the Grammys.
“I wish,” Bad Bunny responded. “but I can’t.”
When Trevor mentioned he’d been looking forward to seeing him perform, Bad Bunny replied, “Me too!”
The 31-year-old artist, nominated for six Grammys this year – including the top categories of Album, Record, and Song of the Year – explained that they initially believed they were going to perform, but now realize they can’t.
Even though Bad Bunny (whose full name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) hasn’t been very vocal during the Grammys ceremony itself, he’s been open about the inspiration behind his album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.
He shared with i-D in September that he’d wanted to create a salsa album for years. He’d always envisioned doing it ‘someday,’ thinking maybe around age 40, but then realized there was no need to delay.
So, he made it a priority, even while juggling a jam-packed schedule.
Bad Bunny continued, explaining that while on the Most Wanted Tour and performing Nadie Sabe lo Que Va Pasar Mañana, he spent time living in Los Angeles during Coachella. He was also filming Been Caught Stealing and Happy Gilmore 2, and it was the longest he’d ever been away from Puerto Rico.
His busy schedule surprisingly helped him finish the album. He explained that it motivated him to explore his heritage and reconnect with his identity as a Puerto Rican.

Indeed, the album is about blending his home country and his new life.
Through his films Nadie Sabe and DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, he aims to show people that he represents both Hollywood and his Puerto Rican roots. He explains he’s comfortable moving between those worlds, able to connect with people in the film industry and then immediately return to his neighborhood, proudly displaying his Puerto Rican identity and style.
Bad Bunny wasn’t the only big name at the 2026 Grammys. Keep reading to see photos of all the celebrities who attended!
