Lainey Wilson is still daydreamin’ about her set at the Crystal Bar.
The singer behind “Watermelon Moonshine” first acted in season five of Yellowstone over three years ago, and she’s now hoping to be involved in the show’s future spinoffs. She recently shared her idea for a role while at the 2026 Grammys, hosted by Trevor Noah at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1st.
Lainey shared with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet that she told Taylor Sheridan, the series’ co-creator, to get in touch with her. However, she added that anything could happen and she’s hoping for the best.
In the fifth and final season of Yellowstone, actress Kylie Rogers, age 33, played an aspiring singer named Aby. Since then, the popular show—known for its cowboy hats—has grown to include several spin-offs, such as 1883, 1923, and the forthcoming Marshals, with more planned.
Lainey, nominated for two awards – Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance – at the recent music ceremony for her 2025 hit, “Somewhere Over Laredo,” doesn’t know what the future holds for her character in the series. However, she has already finished filming her next project: an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, Reminders of Him.
She shared her excitement about the upcoming movie, set to release in March, saying she really admires the work of everyone involved. This role was a first for her – she finally got to play a character who wasn’t a musician, and she enjoyed the change. She was glad to try something different and hopes to have similar opportunities in the future.

It’s like a challenge to truly embody all of those roles, and this opportunity allows me to do just that. It’s about living up to the expectations, and honestly, it feels amazing.
The singer known as Bell Bottom Country put down her guitar to play Amy, a grocery store worker and good friend of the main character, Kenna Rowen, who is played by Maika Monroe. She’s happy to be developing her acting skills and doing it in a way that feels true to herself.

Lainey recently achieved a dream come true! She got to perform with music legends Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah, and Reba on Dolly Parton’s hit song, “Light of a Clear Blue Morning.”
“She’s my hero. Dolly can do no wrong,” she marveled. “She’s been really good to me.”
