I was so excited to see that GOG is giving away three classic PC games for free! The best part? It’s not for a super long time – you’ve got just under three days to grab them. And you don’t need any subscriptions or anything to claim them – just add them to your library and they’re yours forever. Plus, as always with GOG, they’re completely DRM-free, which is awesome!
For a limited time, GOG is giving away Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3 for free. This bundle includes the first three Alone in the Dark games, along with an extra spin-off title. It usually costs $12.99 on GOG, but is only available as part of the $14.99 Alone in the Dark Anthology on Steam.
Classic 1990s Survival-Horror Games
The original Alone in the Dark launched in 1992 and was a groundbreaking horror game. Critics praised it, and it’s considered one of the best horror games of its era. It even heavily influenced the creation of the popular Resident Evil series. Two sequels, Alone in the Dark 2 and Alone in the Dark 3, were released in 1993 and 1995, but they didn’t receive the same positive reception. While the first game scored a 90 on Metacritic, the sequels only managed scores of 70 and 60.
Alongside those three games, the package also includes Jack in the Dark, a short promotional puzzle game without any combat. It was created to advertise the second game in the series and, similar to the third game, received a score of 60 on Metacritic.
These three PC games offer survival-horror fans roughly 15 to 20 hours of gameplay, depending on how much optional content they explore. This is the first time this collection has been offered for free, and it might not be available again, so it’s worth grabbing even if you don’t plan to play immediately.
