Grey’s Anatomy and The Sopranos legends’ new thriller confirms UK release date

News broke last year that Patrick Dempsey, known from Grey’s Anatomy, and Michael Imperioli, famous for The Sopranos, were joining forces for a new thriller. Now, the release date has been announced.

Prime Video in the UK will release “Memory of a Killer” this week, on Thursday, February 5th, 2026. The series is based on the 2003 Belgian thriller De Zaak Alzheimer (also known as La Mémoire du tueur) and its source novel.

The show will begin with a double-episode premiere, followed by new episodes released each week, building suspense as the story unfolds. It’s already started broadcasting in the US on Fox, so UK viewers might want to be careful to avoid spoilers.

Written by Ed Whitmore (known for Steeltown Murders and Out There) and Tracey Malone (Silent Witness, Rillington Place), the series centers on Dempsey as Angelo Flannery/Doyle. He lives a risky double life and harbors a dangerous secret: he’s gradually losing his memory, according to the show’s description.

Angelo leads a double life. He’s a dangerous hitman in New York City named Angelo Doyle, but also a quiet salesman named Angelo Flannery living in Cooperstown with his children. He’s a devoted father and has recently lost his wife, and he now suspects her death wasn’t accidental.

When Angelo’s pregnant daughter, Maria, is targeted, the carefully constructed separation between his past and present life collapses. He realizes someone from his history is seeking revenge and must delve into his old cases to figure out who – a task complicated by the sheer number of people he’s wronged.

The show tells a compelling story of a man who’s losing his memory but developing a stronger sense of morality, and that definitely caught our attention.

Dominic Imperioli, recently known for his roles in The White Lotus and American Horror Stories, plays Dutch Forlanni, a talented Italian chef, in the show. However, despite appearing to simply follow his culinary dreams, his restaurant is secretly a cover for illegal activities.

Dutch is Angelo’s oldest friend and boss, providing him with the people he’s hired to eliminate. Though charming and friendly, Dutch is also unpredictable and ruthless. In their dangerous line of work, Angelo has to rely on Dutch, but Dutch isn’t always reliable.

Both actors are famous for playing characters in popular American TV series. Patrick Dempsey is best known as Dr. Derek Shepherd from Grey’s Anatomy, and has also appeared in shows like Dexter: Original Sin, Devils, and The Truth About the Henry Quebert Affair.

Michael Imperioli is best known for playing Christopher Moltisanti on The Sopranos, a role he had throughout the show’s entire run.

Back in May 2025, it was announced that Dempsey would star in the new series, Memory of a Killer. Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network, described Dempsey’s character as a bold, complex antihero in the tradition of shows like 24 and House, facing incredibly high stakes.

The new series, Memory of a Killer, will launch on Prime Video in the UK on February 5th with the first two episodes available immediately. Following that, new episodes will be released every week.
