Jacob Elordi Says He Was Hospitalized While Filming Wuthering Heights

Jacob Elordi’s experience on Wuthering Heights wasn’t always euphoric.

During the initial filming of the movie based on Emily Brontë’s novel, the actor playing the main villain, Heathcliff, was briefly admitted to the hospital.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always admired actors who fully commit to their roles, and this story really highlights that dedication! Apparently, while working on a film, the makeup artist, Siân Miller, was creating the scars for Heathcliff’s back. She playfully challenged the actor, Jacob, saying that if Daniel Day-Lewis were playing the part, he’d likely arrive with the scars already! Jacob responded with incredible enthusiasm – he jokingly told Emerald Fennell, the director, that he was going to spend the weekend inflicting injuries on himself just to prove he was the right fit for the role! It’s a testament to how seriously he took embodying the character.

And while the idea of going “method” was a joke, Jacob did end up suffering an injury off-camera.

He recalled going home that night to a house with a steam shower – a brass knob in the wall that released steam. He described sitting on the shower floor, imagining himself as the character Heathcliff, covered in dirt and feeling unwell. This experience made him determined to take better care of himself, resolving to wash his feet thoroughly each night and arrive at work feeling refreshed the next day.

I was washing my feet and leaned back, accidentally burning my back on the steam knob. It hurt so badly I yelled, and it left a second-degree burn that I had to deal with at work on Monday.

The incident left Emerald shaken up, until she says she realized that Jacob was, in fact, okay.

Emerald told Jacob, “I remember that happening during the first week of filming. I got a text from producer Josey McNamara saying Jacob had been hospitalized. I immediately thought he’d been in a car accident, but then Josey explained that Jacob had burned his back while showering.”

When asked if he’d taken inspiration from Daniel Day-Lewis—famous for his intense method acting—the Euphoria actor jokingly replied, “It was literally Daniel Day-Lewis.”

Besides taking home some mementos, Jacob developed a close friendship with his costar, Margot Robbie (who plays Catherine in the film). Robbie, known for her role in Barbie, even said they became very reliant on each other early on during filming.

Margot, 35, remembered that during the first few days of filming, the director would consistently position himself nearby, but off to the side, just observing. By the third day, she found herself actively looking for him on set, wondering where he was and expecting him to be close by, as he always was, according to a January 14th interview with Fandango alongside the cast and crew.

She described feeling incredibly lost and vulnerable when Jacob wasn’t nearby, saying it felt like being without something comforting. She’d find herself constantly wondering where he was.

For Jacob, the feeling was “mutual,” as he put it, “I was enamored by her.”

I was shocked to learn recently that Elisabeth Finch, a writer I’d admired, confessed to fabricating a story about having a rare bone cancer. For years, she’d shared this with ELLE magazine, and it even became part of a Grey’s Anatomy storyline! It turns out the whole thing was a lie, and she admitted it in December. It’s incredibly disappointing to find out something like this after following her work for so long.

Elisabeth recently revealed to The Ankler newsletter that a lie she told at age 34 was the biggest regret of her life. She explained that the lie grew over time and became a heavy burden. She also clarified that she has never been diagnosed with cancer.

Finch, who was temporarily removed from their role on the ABC medical show before ultimately quitting, admitted, “I messed up. It was wrong, unacceptable – there’s no excuse for it.”

Beauty is pain, but Kim Kardashian might be able to stomach it.

The reality star told The New York Times she’d consider almost any procedure to look younger.

She admitted in June that she’d even consider something extreme – like eating something disgusting every day – if it meant looking younger. She was serious when she said, ‘I just might.’

In a July 2022 interview with Allure, Kim explained she was mostly joking when she made the comment, but admitted it wasn’t a completely awful idea.

Kim admitted, after some thought, that she’d likely do almost anything for youth, saying she’d even eat something disgusting like poop if someone promised it would make her look younger, as long as she ate it daily.

Asked how much she could eat, she said, “Perhaps just a small bite.” She added that a full bowl would be too much for her.

Jelly Roll could’ve used some saving from himself.

During an April 2025 interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the singer of “Save Me” shared a particularly embarrassing story, and he didn’t hesitate to tell all the details.

“I pooped myself one time,” he admitted. “I did, I’m sorry.”

I have to say, I don’t think Jelly Roll – Jason DeFord, his real name – ever intended for things to go this far. It really wasn’t his intention to cause such serious harm.

He firmly believed it was just a misunderstanding. “I sincerely apologize,” he said. “I saw the audience change from being supportive to completely against me.”
