Take-Two Interactive Software announced during its Q3 2026 earnings call that work on the Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 has been temporarily stopped.
The Switch 2 was originally scheduled to come out on October 3, 2025, a little after the September 12 release of the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions. However, it was unexpectedly delayed, and a new release date hasn’t been announced.
Take-Two has temporarily stopped work on one particular game version, as confirmed by spokesperson Alan Lewis in a statement to Variety. The company is prioritizing improvements and new content for players who already own the game. They are still working closely with Nintendo and are looking forward to releasing PGA Tour 2K25 and WWE 2K26 (for the new Switch 2 console), with plans to bring even more games to the platform in the future.
