Nicola Peltz Beckham’s dad Nelson Peltz is invested in his daughter’s marriage.

With Nicola Peltz Beckham and her husband Brooklyn Beckham reportedly distanced from his parents, the billionaire businessman recently shared his approach to handling his family’s public image.

During a February 3rd event hosted by The Wall Street Journal in West Palm Beach, Florida, Nelson jokingly responded to a question about recent media coverage of his family by saying he hadn’t seen any.

The 83-year-old shared some advice he’d given his ten children: “Stay away from the media – it rarely helps.”

Putting the humor aside, Nelson stated he wouldn’t discuss the details of the disagreement between Nicola and Brooklyn and David and Victoria Beckham, but confirmed he fully supports their relationship.

I don’t really want to talk about my daughter and the Beckhams today,” he said. “But I will say that my daughter and her husband, Brooklyn, are both wonderful people, and I hope they have a long and happy life together.

Brooklyn has said his parents didn’t offer the same support to him and Nicola that he gives to his own partner, pointing to their 2022 wedding. This was a key part of his recent public complaints about David and Victoria, where he stated he felt controlled by them throughout much of his life.

The 26-year-old explained that the Spice Girls member—who also has three children, Romeo (22), Cruz (20), and Harper (13), with her ex-husband—had repeatedly brought women from his past into their lives, seemingly to upset both him and his wife, Nicola.

Brooklyn shared a statement on Instagram explaining that his parents have consistently tried to undermine his relationship with Nicola, even before their wedding. He said his mother unexpectedly canceled plans to design Nicola’s wedding dress shortly before the big day, leaving Nicola scrambling to find a replacement.

He explained that his wife has repeatedly been treated with disrespect by his family, despite their efforts to build a unified relationship.

Despite the rift, though, Brooklyn noted that his romance with Nicola has been a saving grace.

He finished by saying he starts each day thankful for the life he and his wife have built, a life that’s brought them peace and a sense of calm. They simply want a private, happy life, free from the influence of public opinion and media attention, both for themselves and their future children.

While not a strict requirement, many people expected Nicola Peltz Beckham to wear a dress designed by her future mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham, at her wedding to Brooklyn Beckham. The wedding took place in April 2022 at the Peltz family estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

Nicola remained silent about the issue for months, but eventually confirmed there wasn’t a conflict about the dress. She did admit she was a little upset that she couldn’t wear a custom Victoria Beckham design.

However, a few months later, the designer informed her that her workshop couldn’t fulfill the order, forcing Nicola to choose a different dress. Nicola clarified that the designer never forbade her from wearing the original dress, and she never expressed a lack of interest in it. The story then grew from there, with inaccurate reports circulating.

Brooklyn said she’s realized people will always attempt to be negative or critical, but the team has a good dynamic and everyone works well together.

Speaking to Grazia the following month, Nicola called the Beckhams “great in-laws.”

Victoria, who rarely addresses gossip, finally described the Peltz-Beckham wedding as “beautiful.”

She told TODAY in October that seeing her son so happy was incredibly rewarding. “You couldn’t ask for anything more,” she said.

In a recent post, Brooklyn accused his parents of manipulating the media to shape the public’s view of their family. He also claimed they prioritize the “Beckham brand” over everything else and have actively attempted to sabotage his relationship with Nicola.

He mentioned struggling with anxiety during his childhood, but says separating from his family has brought him a sense of calm and freedom.
