ITV confirms biggest month in streaming ever as Soaps interest surges by record amount with Corriedale

ITV reported that January 2026 was its most successful month ever for streaming, reaching a record 383 million views.

This new number is higher than the previous record of 375 million streams ITVX received in June 2024, following the Men’s Euros.

This success was mainly due to popular shows in genres like soap operas, reality TV, and dramas, confirming that ITVX is becoming a go-to place for viewers seeking great content.

As a big fan of British soaps, I was really interested to see the numbers after that ‘Corriedale’ crossover event! It seems like it really paid off – both Coronation Street and Emmerdale had their best month ever for streaming viewers. In fact, streaming numbers were up almost 50% compared to last year, which is amazing to see.

In January, Corriedale was ITV’s most-watched program, attracting 5.9 million viewers across television and online streaming. Viewers also streamed episodes of Coronation Street and Emmerdale a remarkable 65 million times that month – 10 million more than any other month on record.

Love Island All Stars has proven popular for ITV, racking up 40 million streams in January 2026. This made it the most-watched show among 16-34 year olds on streaming platforms, beating out other commercial streaming services like those offered by traditional broadcasters and ad-supported subscription services.

The series is currently ITV’s top single title in streaming, in 2026 to date.

Drama was the most popular genre on ITVX in January, racking up over 25 million streams. Seasons 1 and 2 of ‘Red Eye’ were particularly popular and drove much of this success.

“The Hunting Wives” was the most-watched newly-added show on ITVX, racking up almost 7 million streams – one of the highest monthly totals ever for a show brought onto the platform.

As a total drama fan, I was really interested to see the latest streaming numbers, and they were the best they’ve been since the Mr Bates vs The Post Office phenomenon back in January. ITV really delivered this past month with shows like After The Flood and Grantchester clearly drawing in viewers.

ITV’s Kevin Lygo stated that a strong lineup of dramas, including popular soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale, and the hit show Love Island, helped ITVX achieve its most successful month ever.

2026 promises a lot of great new things, and we’re thrilled to begin the year by reaching this important achievement.
