Batman #6 Is a Perfect Batman Comic and That’s All There Is to It (Review)

Writing Batman comics is known as a particularly challenging job. While issues often sell very well initially, fans are quick to criticize, and the creative process is usually heavily overseen by editors. Being in charge of such an important title isn’t easy. However, the team of Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez seems to be an exception. Fraction began collaborating with veteran Batman artist Jimenez at the end of 2025, and together they’ve been impressing readers with self-contained stories that successfully combine action, mystery, and seeds for future storylines. Their partnership has been incredibly effective, and Batman #6 perfectly showcases everything they’ve achieved so far.

Batman is central to DC Comics, and the writer, Fraction, clearly understands the character and his universe. This issue is fantastic from start to finish – I couldn’t stop smiling while reading it! The story continues directly from the previous issue, but even if you haven’t read that one, you’ll easily be able to follow along. The opening pages quickly bring new readers up to speed.

Pros Cons
Fraction’s writing is outstanding
Jimenez’s art is gorgeous, fluid and detailed with excellent character acting
A portentous issue full of action and intrigue that sets things up for the future

Batman #6 is Seriously Impressive

This comic feels like a classic, and it’s a really welcome change of pace. Matt Fraction tells a fantastic story that works even if you’re new to the series. Usually, issue six would wrap up a storyline, and it definitely feels complete, but it’s also a great jumping-on point for anyone who’s been curious about the book and wants to start reading.

This issue of Batman continues to be outstanding. The story skillfully balances the immense pressure and legacy Batman carries with a seemingly effortless grace. It’s packed with a compelling plot, thrilling action, and genuinely touching character moments. I rarely offer such high praise, but this comic is truly exceptional. While it tells a complete story on its own, it also lays groundwork for future developments. The characters feel incredibly well-developed, the dialogue is both sharp and emotionally resonant, and the issue ends with several cliffhangers that will leave readers eager for the next installment. This is exactly what a leading title should be: a captivating, self-contained story with brilliant writing and artwork.

Jorge Jimenez Is the Best Batman Artist of This Generation and This Issue Shows Why

It feels almost obvious at this point to praise Jorge Jimenez’s work – it’s consistently incredible. He’s been a standout artist for DC since his work on SuperSons, and this issue is a perfect example of why. The page designs are excellent, and he perfectly captures the emotion in every line of dialogue, making the character interactions feel real. His artwork is incredibly detailed, the characters are beautifully drawn, and the action sequences are dynamic and impactful. But what really stands out to me are the quieter moments, where the focus is on the characters themselves rather than big action scenes.

This comic shines thanks to the artist’s incredible attention to detail. He perfectly captures each character’s personality through their expressions and body language, and every panel is beautifully crafted. A particularly strong scene involving Tim Drake, Batman, and Damian really benefits from his skillful character work. The emotional interactions between Bruce and Damian are equally well done, staying true to their established personalities. Ultimately, Jimenez elevates Fraction’s already excellent writing to create a truly exceptional comic.

Batman #6 is a truly excellent comic book. It’s perfect for both longtime fans and people new to the series – really, anyone who enjoys comics will love it. While many major comic titles have struggled recently (like The Amazing Spider-Man in recent years), this issue demonstrates how to get it right. I highly recommend it! It’s not necessarily groundbreaking in terms of changing the character, but it’s a special issue because the creative team is clearly pouring their heart and skill into making it enjoyable for everyone. Even if you haven’t read Batman in a long time, you’ll find something to appreciate here.
