Even though the original Yellowstone series ended in December 2024, several spin-offs are already being released. Adding to the confusion, one of those spin-offs, Marshals, has moved from Paramount+ to CBS, leaving viewers curious about how it will compare to the popular and dramatic Yellowstone universe created by Taylor Sheridan.
As a big fan of Yellowstone, I’m so excited for all the new shows coming out! We know at least three spin-offs will be here by 2026, and there are even two more being planned. While I’m looking forward to them all, the buzz around The Madison – with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell starring – is incredible. And I absolutely can’t wait to see Beth and Rip’s story continue in Dutton Ranch! It’s going to be a great time to be a Yellowstone fan.
‘6666’ Has Seemingly Stalled Production
Still in Development

Paramount
Honestly, it’s tough to get really hyped about those Yellowstone spin-offs, 1944 and 6666, after all this time. They announced 6666 way back in 2021, promising a modern story centered around the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, but with everything taking so long, it’s hard to know what to expect anymore.
The show hasn’t seen any new developments since 2022, but it was originally planned to connect with seasons four and five of Yellowstone after the 6666 ranch was featured in that series. Hopefully, it will be made before Taylor Sheridan’s deal with Paramount ends in 2028, for the sake of the fans.
‘1944’ Builds off the ‘1923’ Legacy
Aiming For a Late 2026 Premiere

Paramount
Early in 2023, excitement grew for 1944, a new series that will continue the story of the Dutton family. It’s a prequel to Yellowstone and a sequel to 1923, showing the Dutton children’s experiences during World War II while their family maintains the ranch in Montana. Filming is planned for the Bitterroot Valley in southwestern Montana.
After years of silence, excitement is building again around the Paramount+ series 1944. We found out in February 2026 that the show is still in development, with a planned release in late 2026 (according to Matt’s Inside Line). While details about the story and actors are limited, Spencer Dutton (Brendan Sklenar), the character from 1923 who dealt with the trauma of World War I and went on a hunting adventure in Africa, seems like the most likely Yellowstone character to appear. Although Matthew McConaughey has been mentioned as a potential star, it might make more sense for Michelle Randolph to reprise her role as Elizabeth Strafford, portraying her as an older version alongside Spencer.
‘Marshals’ Marks a Major Network Transition
The Series Premieres March 1, 2026

CBS
The upcoming Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, is generating some buzz, but its shift in style is giving some fans pause. Unlike the popular neo-western feel of the original Yellowstone on Paramount+, Marshals will be more of a crime drama. The show follows Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), a former Navy SEAL, as he starts a new career working as a U.S. Marshal in Montana.
Dedicated fans of Yellowstone are worried the new spin-off might lose what makes the original series so good now that it’s moved to a mainstream network. They’re concerned about interruptions from commercials and the toned-down language and violence. Luckily, seeing familiar characters like Thomas Rainwater, Mo, and Tate Dutton will help make the shift from Paramount+ to CBS feel smoother.
Featuring Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, and Brett Cullen, Marshals could be the most innovative Yellowstone spin-off so far. It’s a bold departure from what Yellowstone fans expect, which means it could be incredibly successful or fall flat. Because of this uncertainty, and with its release date approaching, Marshals is generating moderate buzz – it’s not quite a guaranteed hit, but it’s definitely on people’s radars.
‘Dutton Ranch’ Features the Return of ‘Yellowstone’ Fan-Favorite Characters
Premieres Sometime in 2026

Paramount+
Fans are eagerly awaiting Dutton Ranch, the upcoming spin-off of Yellowstone focusing on Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). Announced in August 2024, the show is expected to debut in 2026, though an exact release date hasn’t been revealed. Dutton Ranch will continue the story, showing Beth and Rip starting over as they build a new 7,000-acre ranch and move past the difficult events surrounding John (Kevin Costner) and Jamie (Wes Bentley).
The new series, Dutton Ranch, will be filmed in Ferris, Texas, starting in August 2025, and will bring back Finn Little as Carter. The cast also includes well-known actors like Ed Harris, Annette Bening, Jai Courtney, Natalie Alyn Lind, Marc Menchaca, Juan Pablo Raba, and J.R. Villarreal. While Chad Feehan will lead the show as showrunner, Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan will still be heavily involved, writing episodes and supervising the production.
Beth and Rip have always been fan favorites on Yellowstone. After all the intense family conflicts they’ve faced, it will be compelling to watch them start fresh, create a new life, deal with new challenges, and continue raising Carter as their son.
‘The Madison’ Boasts Unprecedented Star Wattage
Premieres March 14, 2026

Paramount+
Highly anticipated as the next chapter in the Yellowstone universe, The Madison stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell as Stacy and Preston Clyburn. This New York family moves to a beautiful valley in Montana hoping to overcome a recent, painful loss. The Madison is a modern story celebrating the healing power of nature, and while connected to the Yellowstone world, it stands on its own.

Stacy’s journey to get better includes seeing a new therapist, Dr. Phil Yorn (played by Will Arnett), and getting to know her neighbors, Cade (Kevin Zegers) and Kestrel Harris (Danielle Vasinova). Her family life revolves around her husband Preston, their three daughters – Abigail (Beau Garrett), Bridgette (Amiah Miller), and Paige (Elle Chapman) – and Paige’s husband, Russell McIntosh (Patrick J. Adams).
Everyone is excited for The Madison, the new Yellowstone spin-off, because it tells a different story, focusing on new characters instead of the Dutton family. Plus, it’s already been renewed for a second season, which finished filming in December 2025!
Perfect for watching multiple episodes at once, The Madison will have short seasons of only six episodes each. This will keep the story engaging without dragging it out or including unnecessary content. Plus, fans won’t have to wait a long time for new seasons, which is often a problem with big-budget streaming series.
