New A24 Horror Movie With 87% on RT Gets Disturbing Trailer

A24 has shared another trailer for its new horror film, Undertone, before it hits theaters. The trailer gives viewers a better understanding of the movie’s unique concept—which focuses on sound—without spoiling the story.

Undertone trailer 2 released by A24

I just saw the second trailer for Undertone, and I’m getting so excited! A24 announced it will hit theaters on March 13, 2026, and I’ve already marked my calendar.

The film begins with an introduction framed as a podcast called “Undertone,” which discusses creepy topics. We quickly meet the podcast hosts, Evie Babbage, who is skeptical, and Justin Manuel, who believes in the paranormal. This immediately sets up the central conflict of the film: the tension between believing and not believing.

The trailer sets up the central mystery with Justin mentioning ten strange audio recordings received from an unknown sender. Evie’s careful replies, like telling someone to “keep an open mind” and acknowledging a possible demonic possession, show she’s initially skeptical but trying to understand what’s happening. As the recordings play, the characters react immediately, with lines like “Okay, easy, easy,” and “All right. Here, here, something,” revealing their growing tension and surprise.

Okay, so Evie definitely feels something’s off – she says she’s heard strange things before, but this is different, and it really changes the mood. Justin, as usual, is skeptical, basically asking if she’s serious. Then the trailer just piles on the tension with lines like ‘We have to find out what’s happening,’ ‘It might already be too late,’ and ‘What have we gotten ourselves into?’ It ends with this creepy line, ‘It’s what she wants,’ which makes you think there’s someone – or something – pulling the strings, but we don’t get to see who or what it is. It leaves you on the edge of your seat!

Ian Tuason’s first film, Undertone, follows Evy, a host of a paranormal podcast played by Nina Kiri. When Evy receives unsettling audio recordings from a couple’s house, she finds herself caught up in a series of frightening occurrences.

Okay, so I just finished watching this really interesting film called Undertone. It’s unique because you only see one actress, Evy, on screen – everyone else is just a voice. It really leans into sound design to tell the story. It actually premiered at Fantasia on July 27th, 2025, and the audience loved it – it won the gold audience award! A24 clearly saw something special too, because they picked it up for a significant amount of money. I’m really excited to see what they do with it.

Undertone opens in theaters March 13, 2026.
