Horror games often bring to mind classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, which are still popular today. However, recently, some really original horror games have emerged, and Exit 8 is one of the most talked-about. It’s now being made into a scary new movie, and the first trailer is available now. It perfectly captures the strange and unsettling atmosphere of the original game.
Similar to the original, one person finds themselves lost in a never-ending underground maze after exiting the tram, with only one other person present. As the lost man, played by Kazunari Ninomiya, attempts to escape, he begins to notice strange instructions related to the bizarre events unfolding around him. Soon, increasingly disturbing occurrences begin to happen, including a wave of disgusting brown liquid and some truly terrifying rodents. Check out the new trailer below.
Exit 8’s Journey From Viral Video Game to Potential Hit Film

I recently learned the story behind Exit 8, and it’s pretty cool! The game first came out in 2023, created by Kotake Create. It quickly became a hit with people who love live play experiences and streamers because of its really unique idea and gameplay. Word spread fast, and it ended up being downloaded over 1.7 million times – that’s amazing!
Although Exit 8 doesn’t have a traditional storyline, the urgent need to escape, encounters with a mysterious man, and strange discoveries create a gripping experience that players loved. Remarkably, the game can be finished in just 10-15 minutes, yet it’s surprisingly engaging and encourages multiple playthroughs to uncover all its secrets.
The movie appears to be capturing what made the game so engaging, going beyond just frightening moments. It’s keeping the three main rules from the original game. The first rule is simple: if you notice anything strange, turn around immediately. In the game, these strange things, or anomalies, could be obvious or very subtle changes to the surroundings.
The second rule is simple: if everything seems normal, keep moving forward – that’s what kept you hoping for a way out. The third rule is to pay attention to anything unusual, because ignoring it will trap you in a never-ending cycle until you finally notice it. These rules are still central to the story, although the film seems to be adding more details about the characters to make it richer.
Let’s talk about those seriously creepy rats! If you pause the trailer at 1:57, you’ll see a swarm of them coming through the tunnel. They’re scary enough on their own, but the huge eyeballs sticking out of their backs just make them even more terrifying.
Exit 8 is slated to hit theaters on April 10th.
