Despite letting go of approximately 270 employees, Virtuos, the development team behind The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, continues to be dedicated and engaged in their work on the game, as well as their other projects like Cyberpunk 2077 and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
Today, Virtuous announced that they are adapting to fulfill the evolving requirements of their partners within the video game industry and globally, by reducing their staff count significantly, primarily impacting their Asian workforce.
In simpler terms, Virtuos stated that their workforce adjustments involve a shift in responsibilities among various studios and regions. This change is expected to affect approximately 200 positions in Asia and an additional 70 positions in Europe.
Although it’s been confirmed that not all employees are affected, fewer than ten roles within the company will see changes, primarily in France where the key team responsible for the successful Oblivion Remastered is situated. Virtuos also mentioned that update 1.2 for Oblivion Remastered will be rolled out to a wide audience shortly.
Work on Cyberpunk 2077, recently updated with a new patch, continues as promised by Virtuos, and so does the work of their team behind Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, set to release on August 28th.
Over the last year, following the acquisition of teams based in North America and Europe, Virtuos has adjusted its focus. Now, they are strategically withdrawing from certain service areas where demand has noticeably decreased.
As a gamer speaking, I’d say: “I want to express my gratitude to those who have been affected by the changes we’re making. We’re offering separation packages, helping with career transitions, and exploring opportunities for redeployment within our global network wherever it’s feasible. Our top priority now is managing this transition sensitively, openly, and respectfully.

Based in Singapore with studios worldwide, Virtuos had a workforce of 4,200 employees prior to the most recent round of layoffs. This prominent company is a highly valued partner in game co-development, having lent its expertise to a wide range of hit titles such as Hogwarts Legacy, Call of Duty, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Mortal Kombat 1.
Today, Virtuos’ update 2.3 for Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt has been released across all platforms, enriching the game with fresh vehicles, tasks, and a captivating photo mode in its futuristic open world. Meanwhile, CD Projekt continues its work on further developments of Cyberpunk 2.0.
