The show was a success on Netflix, quickly becoming popular just one day after its release. This is a good sign, not only for the show’s continuation, but potentially for other crime and legal dramas as well.
When Season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer premiered on February 5th, it quickly became popular, landing at number two on Netflix’s Top 10 list, according to FlixPatrol. It was only beaten by Bridgerton, which had already returned for its fourth season on January 29th with the first part of the new episodes.
Even though The Lincoln Lawyer didn’t reach the top spot everywhere, it was still a successful launch, showing Netflix’s continued ability to deliver popular shows. It debuted at No. 1 in Kenya, Hungary, and Canada, and performed well in the U.S. This release follows closely after the record-breaking debut of Stranger Things Season 5.
I’ve been so impressed with the rise of quality TV thanks to streaming services – the big studios are really putting a lot into it. But honestly, it’s been a bit frustrating waiting so long between seasons of some shows, with all the busy actors and complicated shoots. That’s why I’m so excited about The Lincoln Lawyer! It’s proof that a show can come back quickly and still be fantastic – it really delivers what viewers want.
The popularity of this legal drama demonstrates that success isn’t always about big budgets, flashy marketing, or a lot of hype. While streaming services have often ignored traditional procedural shows, this series—along with shows like Stranger Things—shows that many of the most-watched programs are actually procedurals or series that originally aired on network television.
As a fan, I’m not surprised The Lincoln Lawyer is doing so well! It really shows people still love those shows where each episode focuses on a new case – kind of like NCIS, The Rookie, Grey’s Anatomy, and even The Pitt. It’s comforting to see that format still works!
Based on Michael Connelly’s books, The Lincoln Lawyer is a new adaptation of the story, following the 2011 movie starring Matthew McConaughey. The series premiered in 2022, eleven years after the film’s release.
The Netflix series follows Mickey Haller, a Los Angeles defense attorney played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, who frequently works from his car – a Lincoln Navigator driven by a chauffeur. The cast also includes Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, and Yaya DaCosta.
The Lincoln Lawyer Will Continue
The show quickly became popular after it first aired in 2022, with new seasons released almost every year. The only break came in 2025, because the third season premiered in October 2024, leaving insufficient time for another release. But Netflix appears to have found a solution, as they’ve already approved…
Just before Season 4 launched, Netflix announced that The Lincoln Lawyer will be back for a fifth season. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will reprise his role as Mickey Haller, and the new season will pick up where the last one left off, continuing the story of Mickey dealing with the fallout from proving his innocence.
As a big fan of The Lincoln Lawyer, I was really excited to hear they’re doing a Season 5! Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, the people running the show, said they’ve taken Mickey Haller on a really deep and personal journey so far, and they’re just as thrilled as we are to keep it going. They haven’t said yet which of Michael Connelly’s books will inspire the new season, but I’m already counting down the days!
The Lincoln Lawyer is streaming on Netflix.
