Marvel Comics is filled with gods, monsters, and mutants who defend the universe from evil. Since its start in 1939, Marvel has introduced a huge number of superheroes with amazing powers. As the Marvel universe expanded and villains became more dangerous, these heroes had to become even stronger to continue protecting everything. They’re capable of incredible things, like destroying planets and defeating powerful cosmic beings. Often, these heroes team up with groups like the Avengers or X-Men, becoming their strongest members. Some rely on pure strength, while others can control minds and even alter reality. No matter their powers, Marvel’s heroes possess god-like abilities.
As a lifelong movie and comic book fan, I’ve seen a lot of powerful heroes, but Marvel has some characters who are just on another level. Sure, they’ve got plenty of heroes dealing with everyday crime, but a few possess the power to wipe out not just this universe, but every possible universe out there! Luckily, these incredibly powerful beings generally use their abilities for good, protecting people and keeping things stable. Over 85 years of Marvel comics, these are the absolute strongest superheroes they’ve ever created, in my opinion.
10) Sentry

Often compared to Superman, the Sentry is a Marvel Comics character with incredible power, but also severe mental instability and a tendency towards extreme violence. He’s virtually limitless in strength and speed, and can project energy, teleport, become effectively immortal, and even manipulate matter at a molecular level – powerful enough to defeat Molecule Man. The Sentry has casually destroyed planets and fought on equal footing with beings like World War Hulk and Galactus. When his darker side, the Void, takes control, he becomes a danger to the entire universe, summoning monsters and even severely injuring the Hulk. When his two personalities merge, he’s capable of trading blows with Thor and defeating a Celestial.
9) Adam Warlock

Adam Warlock was artificially created by scientists who intended him to be the next stage in human development. He’s linked to the Soul Stone, one of six incredibly powerful Infinity Stones. This connection gives him control over souls – he can take them from others and briefly bring people back to life. Combining this with his magical skills, Adam can dramatically alter reality, as demonstrated by his ability to shrink giant monsters, turn enemies to stone, and even transform entire planets. Beyond that, he possesses powers like seeing the future, absorbing energy, traveling through time, creating energy objects, and having a deep understanding of the universe. He’s even managed to defeat Mephisto, a powerful demonic being, within Mephisto’s own dimension. Adam is so powerful that he’s one of the few individuals who can use the Infinity Gauntlet without being overwhelmed by its power.
8) Thor

As the god of thunder, Thor possesses incredible strength and has performed countless amazing feats. For millennia, he’s battled throughout the Nine Realms with Mjolnir, his powerful hammer, which allows him to manipulate matter, travel through time, and even bring beings back to life. He’s demonstrated unbelievable power – like knocking a planet out of its orbit during an arm-wrestling match, lifting a creature that encircles the world, and unleashing attacks that shake the entire universe. He’s even overcome a device containing the infinite World Tree. When Thor enters a battle rage called Warrior’s Madness, his power increases tenfold, though he risks losing control. This immense power has allowed him to fight equally with incredibly powerful cosmic entities like Galactus, the Celestials, and the Phoenix Force.
7) Storm

Storm isn’t just a mutant; she’s a tremendously powerful being who has reached the level of a goddess. As an Omega-Level mutant, she can control all kinds of weather patterns worldwide, even cosmic events like solar flares. Her lightning is incredibly strong – she once even restarted a dying star – and she’s used her abilities to close tears between dimensions. But Storm’s already immense powers were amplified when Eternity, a supremely powerful cosmic entity, chose her as the Avatar of Life. This means she’s responsible for keeping the balance between life and death in the universe, and it grants her virtually limitless power, enough to challenge even other god-like beings like Infinity and the Black Winter.
6) Hulk

The Incredible Hulk is one of Marvel’s most recognizable and powerful characters. Powered by gamma radiation and a connection to a supreme cosmic force, the Hulk is a virtually unstoppable engine of rage that grows stronger when he’s angrier. He possesses incredible strength and fury, capable of feats like destroying planets, tearing holes in reality, and even holding open a black hole. He’s broken restraints that could threaten the entire multiverse and has overcome impossible obstacles, including escaping a dimension of unimaginable density. Even death can’t hold the Hulk back, as his link to gamma radiation ensures he’ll be reborn through a mystical phenomenon known as the Green Door.
5) Captain Universe

Throughout the Marvel Universe, various individuals have bonded with the Enigma Force, transforming into the incredibly powerful hero known as Captain Universe. Created to safeguard Eternity, the living embodiment of the universe, the Enigma Force bestows upon its host near-limitless abilities, including complete knowledge, immense strength, flight, and control over all matter and energy. Those who’ve wielded this power have accomplished astonishing feats, such as turning the Silver Surfer’s board into an axe, surviving a supernova, launching the Hulk into outer space, completely regenerating from being incinerated, disintegrating enemies, and even defeating Knull, the God of the Symbiotes.
4) X-Man

Nate Grey, also known as X-Man, comes from another universe and was created by the villain Mr. Sinister to be the ultimate mutant – and he may well be. X-Man possesses incredible psionic powers, rivaling even the Phoenix Force, giving him the ability to change reality whenever he wants. He’s used his telepathy and telekinesis to travel between dimensions, resurrect himself, control the minds of billions at once, create stars, and even connect someone to all their alternate selves across the multiverse. He’s faced incredibly powerful entities like Galactus and has even built entire universes that he fully controls, essentially acting as a god within them.
3) Jean Grey

Jean Grey has always been one of the most powerful minds and movers of objects in the Marvel Universe. But when she bonded with the Phoenix Force, her abilities reached a cosmic level. The Phoenix Force is an ancient, incredibly powerful being – essentially the heart of all psychic energy and the force behind the cycle of death and rebirth across multiple universes. Because of this connection, Jean isn’t just a mutant; she’s a force of nature capable of creating or destroying entire universes. She can alter reality, control souls, bring people back to life, and even see the future. What’s more, even if Jean dies, the Phoenix Force will revive her. She’s proven her immense power by defeating incredibly powerful, multiversal threats like Enigma, Beyonder, and Necrom.
2) Scarlet Witch

Now the most powerful magic user in the universe, Scarlet Witch – as a Nexus Being and the Sorcerer Supreme – can reshape reality itself. She gained this immense power through Chaos Magic, a gift from the ancient god Cthon. With it, she can control minds, matter, time, and even change the odds of anything happening. She’s already used her magic to dramatically alter reality, like making mutants the dominant species, bringing Wonder Man back to life, and even eliminating the X-Gene from most of the Marvel Universe. However, the more she uses Chaos Magic, the greater the danger that she’ll lose control and destroy everything.
1) Franklin Richards

Franklin Richards, the son of the Fantastic Four’s Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman, is arguably the most powerful character in Marvel Comics. From birth, he possessed incredible cosmic abilities, essentially granting him god-like powers. He can create and destroy universes and alter reality simply by thinking. Even at a very young age, Franklin has accomplished amazing feats, such as defeating the villain Mephisto, creating entire dimensions, resurrecting Galactus, and even designing new life forms that worship him. His greatest achievement came during the Secret Wars event, when the Beyonders annihilated almost all of reality. Franklin used his powers to rebuild the entire multiverse, saving all of existence.
