Last week, the world mourned the loss of Catherine O’Hara, the beloved actor who died at age 71. Known for a remarkable career in film and television, she brought us countless unforgettable characters, from dramatic roles to comedic gems. Many remember her especially for playing Kate McCallister in Home Alone, a role that cemented her place in pop culture. Now, fans will have even more access to her brilliant work, as one of her most celebrated comedy series is coming to HBO Max.
Starting February 7th, you’ll be able to watch all six seasons of Schitt’s Creek on HBO Max. The show, about a wealthy family who loses everything and has to adjust to life in a small town, has been available on Hulu since May 2022, after leaving Netflix. Good news for fans – it will continue to stream on Hulu and now on HBO Max, giving you two options for watching all 80 episodes.
Catherine O’Hara’s Moira Rose May Be One of Her Best Characters (And It Earned Her an Emmy)

Though Catherine O’Hara delivered many memorable performances, her role as Moira Rose is arguably one of her finest and most beloved. Moira could easily have been an unpleasant character – a demanding, privileged former celebrity forced to adjust to a simpler life after losing her fortune. However, O’Hara skillfully made Moira not only endearing but surprisingly relatable. She was flamboyant, self-absorbed, and prone to overreaction, yet completely authentic, and O’Hara played every nuance flawlessly.
Despite being completely out of touch with normal life, Catherine O’Hara brought a surprisingly funny energy to the character of Moira Rose. Even when Moira was being particularly self-centered and worried about things like lost wigs or handbags, or struggling to understand the people of Schitt’s Creek, O’Hara made her feel human and ultimately good-hearted. Watching Moira grow, even in small ways, was both refreshing and incredibly funny. It’s fitting that O’Hara won an Emmy in 2020 for her outstanding performance as this comedic lead.
While Catherine O’Hara’s performance as Moira Rose is phenomenal, Schitt’s Creek offers so much more. The show is filled with well-developed characters and delightfully awkward comedy, making it a truly excellent series. It’s become a cultural phenomenon, spawning countless memes – if you’ve ever quoted “fold in the cheese” outside of the kitchen, you’ve felt its influence! If you haven’t watched it yet, now’s the perfect time, as it’s available on HBO Max starting February 7th.
