Mariah Carey certainly glittered at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
During the Opening Ceremony of the Games on February 6th, broadcast on NBC with hosts Mary Carillo and Terry Gannon, singer Mariah Carey performed at Milan’s San Siro Stadium while wearing incredibly sparkly and expensive diamond jewelry.
Mariah looked stunning in a white and silver sequined Roberto Cavalli gown, which she paired with a large white feather shawl. She completed the look with $15 million worth of diamond jewelry – a necklace, earrings, and bracelet – from Levuma High Jewellery.
She captivated the audience with her performance, singing the Italian favorite “Volare” and showcasing her incredible whistle tone while performing her 2025 hit, “Nothing Is Impossible.”
Later in the Opening Ceremony, famous opera singer Andrea Bocelli and actress Sabrina Impacciatore, known for her role in The White Lotus, also made appearances.
Mariah Carey, who has twins Monroe and Moroccan (age 14) with her ex-husband Nick Cannon, famously sang the national anthem at the 2002 Super Bowl. However, she’s never been a Super Bowl halftime performer. Because of this, performing at the Olympics is one of the biggest performances of her career.
And connecting with those audiences is the part that keeps her coming back every time.
The Grammy-winning artist recently recalled a heartwarming connection spanning decades. They told Harper’s Bazaar that someone showed them a video of a performance from the early 1990s where they hugged a young girl in the audience. Then, just the other night, they gave a stuffed animal to another child at a show, creating a similar moment.
The 56-year-old shared, “It’s incredible to realize that these two young girls, from completely different eras, were both around five years old when they first heard my songs.”

But when it comes to the detractors of her music, Mariah has learned to silence the noise.
It feels good when people offer positive feedback, but you also have to learn to not let negative comments bother you, to just let them go.
She said with a touch of humor, “Honestly, at this stage in my life, I just don’t care about that anymore.”
