Jennifer Garner’s son is stepping into the spotlight.
Jennifer Garner’s 13-year-old son, Samuel, who she shares with ex-husband Ben Affleck, looked all grown up while supporting his mom at the New York Stock Exchange on February 6th. He was there to celebrate her company, Once Upon a Farm, becoming publicly traded.
In recent photos from their rare public appearance, Jennifer wore a navy blue dress resembling a peacoat and held hands with Samuel. Samuel, who clearly takes after both of his parents, was dressed in a navy sportcoat and pants.
Being with her youngest child was clearly very special for the Juno actress, who is also a mom to Seraphina, 17, and Violet, 20, with Ben. She recently shared how this led her to change the way she parents.
Raising teenagers is a completely different experience now,” the 53-year-old explained to Marie Claire UK. “Parenting has changed – it’s more about biting your tongue and letting them be themselves.
She realized she needed to let go of trying to control things, explaining, “You have to allow your children to become independent and make their own decisions. You can’t dictate their lives.”
Ben, who divorced Jen in 2018 after 13 years together, feels the same way.
The writer of Good Will Hunting recently told TopMob News that he wants his children to pursue their own paths, not necessarily acting like their parents. He emphasized that he wouldn’t pressure them, adding that he and his partner are incredibly proud of their ‘brilliant, lovely, and wonderful’ kids.
But when it comes down to it, he quipped that he hopes “they don’t waste their life acting.”
However, their oldest child appears to be exploring new interests. The Yale student spoke in favor of COVID-19 prevention at a United Nations meeting in September, and Ben praised her testimony, calling her “spectacular.”
He told Access Hollywood he was incredibly proud of his children, saying he was almost speechless. He explained that his daughter, Violet, is very much like her mother, and he feels fortunate to have a wonderful partner and amazing kids.
Ben shared that this work is the greatest joy in his life and that he feels incredibly fortunate. He added that it brings him happiness each and every day.
