Doctor Who audio dramas from Big Finish will continue until 2035, with “surprises” and “more ambitious series” promised

Big Finish Productions, the company behind the popular Doctor Who audio dramas, will be able to continue making them for at least ten more years. They’ve just renewed their license, securing production through 2035.

Since 1999, Big Finish has been making audio adventures featuring characters and stories from Doctor Who. They’ve brought back beloved Doctors, companions, and monsters, and also created exciting new characters and storylines that have become an important part of the Doctor Who universe.

I’m so happy to hear that Big Finish and the BBC have renewed their deal! This means we’ll keep getting amazing new Doctor Who adventures as digital downloads, which is fantastic, and they’ll still be making those beautiful collector’s edition releases too. It’s great news for fans like me!

Jan Paterson, who leads Books and Audio at BBC Studios, praised Big Finish for its significant contribution to the Doctor Who universe over the last 25 years. She highlighted their ability to create stories that both respect the show’s history and offer fans fresh, creative, and engaging adventures.

We’re renewing our partnership with Big Finish because we believe in their imaginative storytelling and bold ideas, and because of the strong working relationship we have with all our licensed partners. We’re excited to continue working with them and see what amazing new adventures they create for the Doctor.

Jason Haigh-Ellery, who heads Big Finish Productions, explained that the new, longer-term license gives the company the ability to make plans much further into the future than they have been able to before.

Nicholas Briggs, who leads creative efforts at Big Finish, shared that after 25 years of making Doctor Who stories, it still feels like they’re just beginning. He loves that the show’s endless possibilities – with all of time and space to play with – mean there’s always room for new adventures and ideas.

As a big Doctor Who fan, I was excited to see what Big Finish has planned for 2026! They’re releasing a fantastic bundle of 15 classic Doctor adventures. You’ll be able to download them all for £285, which is a great deal. If you’re a collector like me, there’s a special CD edition for £352.50, but be warned – they’re only making 1,000 of those, so you’ll need to be quick if you want one!

Several Doctor Who audio adventures are already scheduled for 2026. February will bring “The Third Doctor Adventures: The Imposters,” followed in March by “The Fourth Doctor Adventures: The Ministry of Death,” “The First Doctor Adventures: Beware the City of Illusions,” and “The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures: The Violet Hour.” In April, listeners can expect “The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Pandemonium” and “The Sixth Doctor Adventures: Expulsion.”
