Everyone was eagerly anticipating the return of this popular drama for its newest season on Netflix. The first part of season four lived up to the hype, quickly gaining 174 million views and becoming the most-watched show on the platform. Previous seasons also saw a surge in popularity, with season one and three both landing in the Top 10 with 2.7 million views each.
The popular series Bridgerton has returned, and this season’s focus is on Benedict Bridgerton, a charming and notorious bachelor. The story begins when he meets a captivating woman at a masquerade ball, and is instantly smitten. He’s left with only one clue: a satin glove. This sets off a quest to discover her identity, a storyline the creators playfully compare to Cinderella. However, the woman he’s searching for, Sophie, is a maid, making a relationship with her incredibly complicated – despite their undeniable connection.
What Makes Season 3 So Unique?
According to showrunner Jess Brownell, the chemistry between this season’s main characters comes from their contrasting perspectives. Benedict is a dreamer, while Sophie is very grounded in reality. Instead of one changing completely to meet the other, they both need to find a balance. Brownell believes that real love exists in that middle ground – it needs both a touch of fantasy and a sense of reality to flourish.
The latest season of Bridgerton has been very well-received, earning an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics praise the show for remaining charming and passionate, even with a well-known story. Christopher Stevens of the Daily Mail called the premiere “spectacular” and “magnificently ambitious,” recommending it even to newcomers. Allison Rowat of The Herald gave the season 4 out of 5 stars, describing it as a delightful and uplifting experience, and noting that it still delivers more clever dialogue than many other shows.
Overall, this new installment is a visually stunning and exciting addition to the popular Bridgerton series. The connection between the main characters is especially strong – truly one of the best we’ve seen on the show! While it might not be the very best season of Bridgerton, it’s definitely worth watching, and could even make the wait for the rest of the season feel worthwhile.
