Olympics 2026: Tara Lipinski Defends Bringing Daughter to Winter Games

Tara Lipinski is faithfully committed to all of her endeavors.

The Olympic gold medalist is inspiring others by balancing her career with motherhood. She’s working as a figure skating analyst at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan and Cortina while also raising her 2-year-old daughter, Georgie, with her husband, Todd Kapostasy.

She shared on Instagram on February 6th, with pictures of her carrying her daughter, that she doesn’t want to feel pressured to choose between her ambitions and being a mother. She explained that for a long time, women weren’t given the freedom to have both, and she wants her daughter to see a mother who pursues her goals while also being fully present in her life.

“I can do both,” the 43-year-old continued, “in my own way at the same time.”

Tara Lipinski won a gold medal in figure skating at the 1998 Winter Olympics and later became a broadcaster. She eventually joined Terry Gannon and Johnny Weir as a commentator for the 2014 Games, and becoming a mother in 2023 actually motivated her to work even harder in her career.

In 2024, she told Modern Wellness Guide that she wants her daughter to see her following her passions and achieving her goals. She hopes this will inspire her daughter to believe that anything is possible for her own future.

Despite her busy life, Tara emphasizes that spending quality time with her son, Georgie, is her top priority.

Tara recently revealed she nearly quit the current season of The Traitors because she was worried about being separated from her daughter.

She explained to People magazine that being away from her daughter, Georgie, was the main reason she almost turned down the opportunity. They eventually found a way to make it work so she could regularly video chat with Georgie, but it was still hard being apart, especially since Georgie was only a year and a half old at the time.
