35 Years Later, Classic Beloved Series Teases Anime Adaptation

Anime and manga aimed at young boys (known as “Shonen”) have consistently been the most popular in the industry. Many of the best-selling manga ever, like One Piece, Naruto, and Dragon Ball, fall into this category. Often, a manga’s success is boosted by its anime adaptation, which is why series published in Shonen Jump usually get an anime version within a couple of years. While manga aimed at young girls (called “Shojo”) generally aren’t as globally popular, they often tell very original and creative stories. The 1990s were a great time for both Shonen and Shojo, with many classic Shojo series from that decade still being enjoyed today.

Many highly-rated manga series with dedicated fans never get turned into anime. Recently, rumors began circulating that From Far Away by Kyoko Hikawa might finally be adapted, which came as a surprise. Hikawa is a legendary manga artist, known for creating popular and critically acclaimed works like Kouya no Tenshidomo and Otogimoyou Ayanishiki, and many more.

From Far Away Teases an Anime Announcement

Fans noticed a new website address registered with the anime’s name, and this often signals an announcement is coming soon – usually within weeks or months. Registering a domain name is a common way to build hype for an anime and create a central hub for information about the series.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the popular manga, and many fans are hoping for a big announcement. The series originally ran from September 1991 to January 2003, with a total of 14 volumes. Although nothing is confirmed yet, an update could arrive soon. Excitement is especially high because of the upcoming anime adaptation of this beloved classic Shojo series.

What Is From Far Away About?

Noriko Tachiki is a typical high school student haunted by a recurring dream of a stunning, otherworldly land filled with delicate, see-through flowers and a radiant golden bird. She feels certain this beautiful place exists in another dimension. One day, on her way home from school, an explosion occurs, and Noriko vanishes without a trace. To everyone’s surprise, she’s actually been transported to the very world she’s been dreaming about.

I found myself thrust into a strange new world, and almost immediately ran into trouble – dangerous monsters in a dark forest. Luckily, a man named Izark Kia Tarj appeared and saved me, though we couldn’t even understand each other! Knowing I couldn’t survive on my own in this unknown place, I decided to follow him. As things unfolded, I discovered I was somehow connected to an old prophecy, one that foretold the unleashing of a terrible evil upon the world.
