Kaley Cuoco Recalls Feeling “So Depressed” During Karl Cook Divorce

Kaley Cuoco is getting candid about a low point in her life.

The former star of The Big Bang Theory recently discussed her 2021 split from her husband, Karl Cook, after three years of marriage. She explained that things became particularly difficult the following year as they went through the divorce process.

During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress described feeling incredibly depressed and overwhelmed on the day the second season of The Flight Attendant premiered. She explained that she woke up feeling so sad she could barely breathe and ended up lying on the floor, genuinely believing she was having a life-threatening experience. She questioned her life choices in that moment, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Kaley, who is 40 years old, revealed she almost didn’t attend the red carpet event because she was feeling incredibly upset.

I remember my team helping me get ready, but I was completely unable to stand. I was lying on the floor, convinced my life was ruined. I honestly believed I’d never get married or have children – that this was the end of everything for me.

Kaley was previously married to Ryan Sweeting from 2013 to 2016. Soon after, she met Tom Pelphrey, and they had a daughter, Matilda, in March 2023. Surprisingly, after saying she was done with marriage, she and Tom got engaged in August 2024.

“Sometimes you just change your mind,” she acknowledged, “and that’s okay.”

Tom appears very happy with his family, and he’s mentioned that being a dad now fills most of his time.

During an interview with Justin Sylvester at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards in January, the 43-year-old playfully said his daughter ‘owns his life,’ and emphasized that being a father is his most important role.
