With the start of the winter anime season in 2026, many new shows premiered, largely on Crunchyroll. While popular continuing series like Frieren Season 2 and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 are highlights, Crunchyroll also features a diverse selection of other great anime. The new series Sentenced to Be a Hero quickly gained attention for its mature themes, but a returning show has unexpectedly become one of the most intense of the season.
What sets the anime Oshi no Ko apart is its grounding in realistic and often disturbing aspects of the entertainment world. The third season, now available on Crunchyroll (not Netflix), initially focuses on Ruby’s quest to find Ai’s killer, with Aqua playing a less central role. However, the latest episode dramatically shifts the focus back to Aqua and unveils a shocking truth about their mother, Ai.
Oshi no Ko Takes a Surprisingly Dark and Thrilling Turn in the Latest Episode

In Oshi no Ko Season 3 Episode 4, titled “Blind,” Ruby continues her determined climb to stardom, but the episode also centers on a meeting between Aqua and Ichigo, the former president of Strawberry Productions. During their talk, Aqua discovers Ichigo is still secretly investigating Ai’s murder, and tries to persuade him to stop, believing the person responsible is already gone. However, Ichigo shares vital information that proves Aqua’s theory wrong, drawing him back into the case. This unexpected turn of events causes Aqua to unintentionally create distance between himself and Kana, straining their relationship. Though fans predicted some of the episode’s darker elements, it still delivered surprising and shocking moments.
When Akane accepts an award, the head of Lalalai mentions a remarkably gifted actor from their past. Intrigued, Akane investigates and discovers an old video that leads her to believe Hikaru Kamiki could be Aqua’s father – the timing and details match when Ai became pregnant. This revelation is shocking because Ai was only 16, and Hikaru was just 15 – still in middle school. While everyone expected the twins’ father to be a mystery, no one guessed he would be so young, or that Ai would become pregnant as a teenager.
This new information sheds light on the often-troubled realities of the entertainment world, a setting Oshi no Ko frequently explores. It’s clear the series is taking inspiration from real-life events, and this reveal fits perfectly with its consistently dark and gritty tone. With the identity of Aqua and Ruby’s father now known, viewers can anticipate learning more about him, especially as Aqua, Ruby, and Akane all become involved in uncovering the truth. This development suggests that upcoming episodes of Oshi no Ko Season 3 will be even more intense, potentially making it one of the most compelling and disturbing anime available on Crunchyroll.
