Drake Maye is finding the positives after his Super Bowl 2026 loss.
Although the New England Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks on February 8th, their quarterback praised head coach Mike Vrabel, becoming emotional while speaking about the energy and leadership the 50-year-old brings to the team.
Drake said after the game that the player was essential to their success. He emphasized the player’s consistent character and expressed excitement about continuing their relationship in the future, saying, ‘He was the heartbeat, no doubt about that. He was a big reason why we’re here. He’s always the same and I look forward to my relationship with him for a long time.’
The 23-year-old added, “He’s a great person and a hell of a football coach.”
The Seahawks’ 29-13 win over the Patriots was a disappointing loss for Drake. If his team had won, he would have become the youngest quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl, surpassing Ben Roethlisberger. He openly admitted the defeat was painful, telling reporters his team’s loss “definitely hurts.”
Drake said he wished he could start the game over. He felt he could have made better throws and decisions in the first half, but ultimately acknowledged that the Seahawks simply played better and made more of the key plays needed to win.

Even though he lost, Drake—who recently married Ann Michael Maye, 22, in June—was able to joke about getting emotional.
I’ve always believed it’s those crucial, game-changing plays that really define everything. When you pull them off, the feeling is incredible – pure celebration! But if you don’t, well, let me tell you, it’s a tough moment, often spent answering questions with a heavy heart.
