Ricky Martin is at a loss for words to describe his Super Bowl 2026 performance.
Ricky Martin said he’s still taking it all in after unexpectedly joining Bad Bunny’s performance at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 8th. The show was full of special guests, including Cardi B, Alix Earle, Pedro Pascal, and Jessica Alba.
Ricky shared a photo on Instagram of himself hugging “NUEVAYoL” and special guest Lady Gaga backstage. He wrote, in Spanish, that he needed time to process the overwhelming emotions he was feeling.
About halfway through his 13-minute performance, 54-year-old Ricky took the stage to play an acoustic version of Bad Bunny’s song “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii,” which celebrates Puerto Rican culture. The show included several references to the island, the home of both artists, such as dancers wearing traditional pava hats and displays of the Puerto Rican flag.
Lady Gaga, who performed at halftime in 2017, also expressed her excitement about joining Bad Bunny (Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) for a salsa version of her song “Die With a Smile,” originally a duet with Bruno Mars.
She shared on Instagram how thrilled she was to perform in Benito’s halftime show. She thanked Benito for the invitation and the whole cast for making her feel welcome, saying she wouldn’t have wanted to miss it for anything.

Other past Super Bowl halftime performers also showed their support online, like Katy Perry, who headlined in 2015. She sent an encouraging message to the 31-year-old performer just before the game.
She posted on X (formerly Twitter), encouraging @sanbenito with, “You can do this! Show everyone what the true American dream is all about.”
Jennifer Lopez, who co-headlined the Super Bowl in 2020 with Shakira, gave Benito a warm message of support before his performance and hinted that he would be joining her on stage.
She shared on X (formerly Twitter), ‘I support you just like you supported me.’ The message, originally in Spanish, also expressed her pride in her Puerto Rican heritage (‘So proud to be Boricua!’) and encouraged Benito, presumably a fellow artist, to keep doing what he does best.
