Jake Paul’s Fiancée Jutta Leerdam Sets Olympic Record in Speed Skating

Jutta Leerdam’s new icy sprint is one for the books.

Dutch speedskater, and fiancée of Jake Paul, won the gold medal in the women’s 1,000-meter race at the 2026 Winter Olympics on February 9th, breaking an Olympic record in the process.

According to ESPN, the 27-year-old athlete finished the competition in 1 minute and 12.31 seconds. This performance echoes the historic time of 1 minute and 11.61 seconds set by Brittany Bowe of Team USA at the 2019 Utah Olympic Oval. While impressive, this isn’t Jutta’s first Olympic medal – she previously won a silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

At the Milan Cortina Games, Femke Kok of the Netherlands won a silver medal, adding to the impressive results. Miho Takagi of Japan took home the bronze. American skater Brittany finished just off the podium in fourth place, and her teammate Erin Jackson finished sixth.

Soon after Jutta achieved this goal, her fiancé celebrated her success with a heartfelt video on Instagram.

Jake, 29, shared a tearful video on February 9th celebrating his partner, Jutta Leerdam, setting a new Olympic world record. He wrote, “I’M SO PROUD OF YOU @juttaleerdam” alongside the post.

The boxer kept the celebration going with another post, calling his fiancée’s victory “one of the greatest sporting achievements of all time.”

He shared a sweet video of them kissing with the caption, ‘The doctor will tell,’ and added, ‘I’m so incredibly proud of you, words can’t express it.’

Jutta’s victory was one of many celebrated this week by athletes wearing their medals with pride. Alpine skier Breezy Johnson, for example, won the women’s downhill title on February 8th, earning Team USA its first gold medal in the event. Unfortunately, her medal broke off the ribbon shortly after the award ceremony, forcing her to find a creative way to display it.

Despite the unexpected mishap, she’s proud of her time on the slopes.

After the race, she explained that she told her mom, ‘You compete in your second Olympics hoping for a medal, but by your third, you’re going for the gold!’ She said making this third Olympic team feels especially meaningful, especially since the second one didn’t go as planned. She’s really looking forward to seeing how Team USA performs overall.
