Ben Affleck’s Hit Netflix Thriller Officially Dethroned From No. 1 Spot On Global Charts After Three Weeks

Ben Affleck’s new thriller, The Rip, is no longer the no. 1 on Netflix’s weekly global charts.

Netflix’s new action film, inspired by real events, brings Ben Affleck and Matt Damon together as members of a special narcotics team investigating a $20 million lead in Miami. The investigation is complicated by suspicions of police corruption following a detective’s death, and everyone is wary as they try to uncover a potential mole. Since its release in January, the movie, titled ‘The Rip,’ quickly became a global hit on Netflix, holding the number one spot for three weeks straight.

The popular series The Rip has lost its position as the most-watched show on Netflix. From February 2nd to February 8th, 2026, The Investigation of Lucy Letby became the top show globally, attracting 12.9 million viewers. According to Netflix’s Tudum blog, The Rip came in second with 7.4 million views, followed by KPop Demon Hunters at number three, In the Land of Saints and Sinners at number four, and Sweet Home Alabama at number five.

The new true-crime documentary is a global hit, currently ranking as number one in 18 countries, including Canada, the US, Denmark, and Slovenia. It also appears in the top 10 lists of another 60 countries. After four weeks, the documentary, titled The Rip, remains at number one in Serbia and New Caledonia, and continues to be a top 10 hit in 81 countries worldwide.

The documentary The Investigation of Lucy Letby examines the 2023 UK case where a neonatal nurse was found guilty of murdering seven babies and trying to harm seven others. While it doesn’t have a score on Rotten Tomatoes, it currently has a 5.5 rating on IMDb.

Even though The Rip isn’t currently Netflix’s most popular movie, it’s proven to be a big success. It racked up 41.6 million views in its first week, followed by 40.4 million in its second. So far, the Affleck and Damon thriller has been viewed over 104 million times since its January release, but it probably won’t make it to the top of Netflix’s most-watched movie list.

After their movie The Rip comes out, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up again to produce a film called Animals. Affleck will direct and star in the crime thriller, but Damon had to withdraw from his leading role because of scheduling issues with Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, The Odyssey, which is set to be released on July 17, 2026.
