The massive Civilization 6 Platinum bundle is FREE for a limited time — here’s how to get it

Civilization is an iconic strategy game that originally made its debut on personal computers. Over time, each new release in the series seems to surpass its predecessor, with improvements and enhancements becoming increasingly significant as additional patches, extensions, and downloadable content are released.

In essence, Civilization 6, introduced in 2016, has continued to expand with additional content all the way up to 2023. Over time, various packs have been released, offering extra content along with the main game.

In essence, Civilization 6’s Platinum Edition doesn’t encompass all content ever released for the game, but it does offer two expansions, six additional DLC packs, and the core game itself. Oh, and here’s a fun fact: It’s currently free at the Epic Games store!

The 100% off promotion will end on July 24, 2025, so you have around a week left to get it before it goes back to its original price of $79.99.

What is included in the Civilization VI Platinum Edition?

In my analysis, I should clarify that while the Civilization 6 Platinum Edition offers a substantial amount of game content, it does not include every piece created for the game. For those seeking the complete collection, the Civilization 6 Anthology Edition is available, albeit at a higher cost.

Is it significant when you’re receiving the Platinum Edition gratis? I think so, given that you must utilize the Epic Games launcher. However, in my opinion, the benefits outweigh this minor inconvenience. You could also acquire any omitted content for your collection at a later time.

This bundle starts with the original Civilization 6 game, followed by the add-ons Rise and Fall, and Gathering Storm expansions.

As a die-hard tech enthusiast, let me express that the additional contents in both game expansions have significantly enriched my Civilization VI journey. Without a doubt, these expansions are indispensable to fully immersing myself in the Civ VI experience.

The Platinum Edition bundle also includes six new civilizations with scenario packs attached.

  • Civilization VI – Vikings Scenario Pack
  • Civilization VI – Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack
  • Civilization VI – Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack
  • Civilization VI – Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack
  • Civilization VI – Nubia Civilization & Scenario Pack
  • Civilization VI – Khmer and Indonesia Civilization & Scenario Pack

With the 18 civilizations and 19 leaders that come with the standard edition, you’ll find there’s plenty to keep you engaged for a long time.

Civilization 6 is worth a try, even when it’s not free

Initially, the release of Civilization 6 garnered a blend of positive and negative feedback. Yet, much like other installments in this beloved series, it eventually found its way into the hearts of countless gamers, including myself.

I’ve invested numerous hours, just slightly behind Civilization 5, and occasionally find myself drawn back for another match with my old gaming buddies.

In 2016, when Civilization 6 was initially released for PC, we had the opportunity to examine it. Previously of Windows Central, Jen Karner expressed her impressions about it.

In “Civilization 6,” you’ll find an exceptionally polished 4X game that embodies all the charm of the Civilization series, while introducing fresh and captivating elements. Choose a civilization and conquer the world in your own unique way – either by annihilating every other dominant civilization or by asserting your dominance through scientific advancement. There’s an abundance of activities to engage in, and even this brief overview barely scratches the surface of what this game has to offer.

In 2019, Civilization 6 was introduced on Xbox as well, and according to the review by Windows Central’s Executive Editor Jez Corden, he stated:

After investing numerous hours in this game, I can confidently say that there’s an immense amount yet to discover. The game offers expansions filled with innovative mechanics, fresh content, and diverse civilization playstyles, most of which remain unexplored by me so far. Additionally, it boasts multiplayer modes, custom matches, and challenge scenarios. Remember, this game has a knack for keeping you hooked – before you realize it, hours will slip away, and what was once midnight could easily become 6 AM (as I can attest to).

What else can I say? Even if you don’t like the game, it’s not like you’re out any money.

Hey folks! I just wanted to give you a heads up that the free copy of Civilization 6 Platinum Edition is only available on Epic Games until July 24th. If you’re a strategy game fan like me, this is an opportunity not to be missed! So, let’s not miss out and make sure we add it to our gaming library before time runs out!
