
Apple Studios now fully owns the rights to the hit show Severance in a deal worth $70 million. While Fifth Season, the company behind the first two seasons, will remain involved as an executive producer, Apple will now produce the show directly. This move is expected to speed up development of the already-announced third season and allow Apple more control over the show’s future, potentially leading to further expansions of the Severance universe.
Sources at Deadline report that filming for Severance season three is expected to begin this summer. While a fourth season is likely, it could be the last for the main storyline. Creators Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller are reportedly interested in building a larger Severance universe through potential prequels, spin-offs, and adaptations for different countries.
