Heathcliff and Catherine might be toxic, but Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are not slippin’ under.
Before Emerald Fennell’s film adaptation of Wuthering Heights comes out on February 13th, the Barbie actress revealed that the movie’s intimate scenes between the main characters weren’t as explicit as the passionate moments described in Emily Brontë’s original 1847 novel.
Oh my gosh, I just read this interview with Margot and she was talking about the action scenes! She said they’re actually super technical and require so much choreography. But get this – she hinted that the really emotional, raw moments happen in other scenes, not those big action ones! It’s like, the real feelings aren’t about the fighting, it’s about everything else! I’m dying to know which scenes she means!
Let me tell you, working with Margot and Jacob on set was fascinating! They didn’t have any of the intense physical chemistry the script demanded, but honestly, the real sparks flew during their scenes with lots of dialogue. Those verbal arguments? They were electric – you could feel the heat between them when they were really going at it as their characters.
Margot explained that scenes with arguments can sometimes be surprisingly organic. She noted that these scenes often build naturally as the actors get caught up in the moment, and don’t need to be overly planned or rehearsed.
The actress, known for her role in Babylon, revealed she tapped into her teenage years – which she fondly remembers as her “emo phase” – to portray the intense emotions of her character.
Margot shared that she used to experience emotions very intensely – even small things could really hurt, and when she cared about something, it consumed her. She realized over time that she learned to manage her feelings to protect herself. She explained that teenage years are characterized by extreme highs and lows, which she finds relatable to the character Cathy.

Alison Oliver, who stars alongside Margot and Jacob and plays Isabella Linton, also drew on her teenage experiences for the role. The actress, known for Conversations With Friends, playfully mentioned that her character’s intense focus on Heathcliff brought back memories of her own youthful obsession with a famous singer.
Alison confessed to TopMob News that she had a big crush on Ed Sheeran. She used to play guitar and write songs when she was younger, and she was so inspired by him that she believes she had a crush on him then, too.
If you’re interested in seeing how Margot and Alison portray their younger selves, Wuthering Heights will be in theaters on February 13th. Here are some other movies coming to cinemas this year…
