3D pixel art top-down action mystery game GUN NOSE announced for PC

I’m so excited! Addy Valentine, the pixel artist behind some amazing stuff, just announced their new game, GUN NOSE! It’s a top-down action mystery game with a really cool 3D pixel art style, and it’s coming to PC. They’ve launched a Kickstarter to get it fully funded – they’re asking for $35,000. If they reach some stretch goals, they’re hoping to bring it to PlayStation 4 and Switch too! No word yet on when it’ll actually come out, but I’m already keeping my fingers crossed!

Here is an overview of the game, via its Kickstarter page:

About

In GUN NOSE, you play as a robot detective with a dangerous face and a hidden past. This top-down action mystery game takes place in the beautifully detailed, pixel art city of Ironwood. Your goal? Find your missing creator by solving a series of brutal murders committed by deadly robots disguised as ordinary citizens.

Every investigation in the game reveals more about the city’s hidden depths. Each case is different, with new victims, suspects, clues, and killers every time you play. You’ll solve these mysteries by questioning people, examining evidence, and looking for the killer’s specific methods. Be warned, though – this isn’t a peaceful experience! The people you investigate won’t give up their secrets easily.

Battles happen in the moment and are unpredictable. When you get closer to solving the mystery, suspects might use psychic abilities to attack you with ghostly, electrical blasts.

You’re not on your own! Along with Jiminy, your unique AI friend, and a surprising group of helpers, you’ll lay traps, discover hidden secrets, and expose a dangerous plot that’s taking over the city.

Setting

Don’t let the retro aesthetic fool you, under the hood GUN NOSE is powered by modern design and tech.

I’m really loving exploring Ironwood! It feels so alive – people are just going about their day, you know, shopping, grabbing a bite, heading to work, and just generally living their lives. What’s cool is they notice you, and remember what you do! Sometimes they’ll ask for help with little things, like finding a lost dog. Other times, it’s something totally wild – I’ve been challenged to a race and even asked to deal with dinosaurs raiding people’s trash! It’s such a quirky place.

The characters in GUN NOSE aren’t just background extras. Each one is carefully created with a distinct look, personality, history, and daily life. You’ll learn about what they do, their usual routines, and how they connect with others.

Just don’t get too close.

In the town of Ironwood, everyone is both a potential target and a possible suspect. And once someone disappears, they’re never seen again.

Characters

This city is full of activity, and you’ll meet a memorable group of people who will assist you in solving mysteries. However, each of them is hiding something, and you’ll learn their secrets as you investigate the disappearance of your creator.

  • Dyna Might – The wide-eyed rookie assigned to your murder cases. With her knack for explosives, you’ll get more bang for your buckshot.
  • Slack Ballista – An officer with sharp instincts and no patience for robots playing detective. Earn his respect, and he might have your back..
  • Virgil – Lead sleuth behind the Bloodsucker’s Detective Agency. He’ll take any case for the right price-then dump it on you, his legally-owned property.
  • Commissioner Crane – Tasked with cracking the MurderBot cases, she runs the department with a firm hand…. when she’s not busy looking for a date.
  • The Gunsmith – Your enigmatic creator who has vanished without a trace.
  • Jimini-Drive – Your wisecracking AI companion, programmed -by the Gunsmith to manage your internal 05 and run your detective systems.

Murder Bots

The Murder Bots are at the heart of every case in GUN NOSE, and no two are exactly alike.

They each have a distinct reason for acting and a particular way of doing things, showing unique behaviors and subtle clues. They vary greatly in appearance, but are always present and easily overlooked.

To solve the case, you’ll have to figure out who committed the crime by questioning people and thoroughly investigating the scene. Some criminals are careless and leave evidence, while others are more careful. But identifying the culprit is just the first step – you’ll still need to apprehend them.

We’re developing many different AI models to test your abilities, and we’ll share some details about how they work and what makes them unique.
