We never expected a new pod racer based on Star Wars to become one of the things we want most!
Remember Star Wars: Galactic Racer, which was revealed at The Game Awards a few months back? We’ve now seen some actual gameplay footage, and it looks fantastic!
Fuse Games, a UK-based studio founded by former developers from Criterion, is creating this game. Their experience with racing games is clearly visible, and the result is incredibly similar to a brand new WipEout title.
Although the game’s settings, which seem to borrow heavily from Star Wars, aren’t very appealing, the racing itself feels fast and well-controlled.
Plus, the game will feature a complete single-player story mode, just as announced previously.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer features the Galactic League, a rough-and-tumble racing circuit that started in the wild Outer Rim. Currently, the league is run by the ruthless and influential Kestar Bool. When Darius Pax, the league’s founder, faces losing everything, he enlists the help of Shade, a skilled pilot with a personal vendetta against the Bool family, to take down Kestar and restore order to the league.
In the single-player game, you’ll progress through a story with choices that lead to different outcomes. As you play, you’ll collect parts and tools to improve your vehicles and gain an advantage over the competition.
The game will also feature online multiplayer for up to 12 players. Plus, you can compete in a classic Arcade mode with a series of races to prove you’re the best.
Honestly, I’m really excited about the Scenarios mode! It sounds like they’re going to throw all sorts of challenges at you – everything from just getting used to a new track in practice, to seriously tough races that will really test how good you are at flying. It’s going to be a great way to improve!
There’s still no release date attached to this one, but it’s due out at some point in 2026.
