2 Konami Games Suddenly Delisted for Some PlayStation Users

Konami is a well-known video game company behind many popular franchises like Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Dance Dance Revolution, as well as the Yu-Gi-Oh! games. They’re also famous for Metal Gear, which many consider to be one of their best series. Recently, though, some older Metal Gear games were removed from the PlayStation Store, leaving some players unable to purchase them digitally. This happened because PlayStation is gradually ending support for the PS3, the console these games were originally for, which is disappointing for fans who wanted to buy them online.

Many gamers were surprised to find that two older Metal Gear games, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, have been removed from the PlayStation Store as of February 16th. Originally released on the PS3 and PSP, these games are no longer available to buy, though players who already own them can still access and play them. Konami didn’t make an official announcement, but the removal wasn’t unexpected.

Older Metal Gear Games Delisted on PSN After Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Announcement

Like a lot of gamers, I’ve been excited to see Konami bring back some of its older games. I recently got to play their Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, which was awesome. Now, they’re doing it again with Metal Gear! Fans already got a treat last year with Metal Gear Solid: Classics Collection Volume 1. It was a great package, including the original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and a bunch of other classic Metal Gear titles.

Konami has officially announced the second collection of classic Metal Gear Solid games. Following the previous release, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of Patriots will be the main attraction. The collection also features Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel. Interestingly, these two games were recently removed from the PlayStation Store, suggesting they’ll only be available for purchase as part of this new bundle from now on.

Although it’s disappointing that some games are being removed from the PS3 store, there’s good news for Metal Gear Solid 4 fans. Because of the PS3’s unique technology, this game has only been playable on that console for years. Now, including it in this new collection will let many more people experience it, even though it won’t be sold separately on the PlayStation Network anymore. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has been available on several consoles, but this is the first time it’s coming to PC and Nintendo Switch.

The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and the new Switch 2 starting August 27th. The price of the collection hasn’t been announced yet.
