Crunchyroll’s Best Mystery Series Is Getting a Live-Action Adaptation

Crunchyroll, the world’s biggest streaming service for anime lovers, offers a wide variety of Japanese animation and a growing selection of Donghua – Chinese animation. While Japanese anime is more well-known, Chinese animation is becoming increasingly popular. One standout series, Link Click, which premiered in 2021, is a highly-rated supernatural mystery. A third season is planned for release in Fall 2026, but fans won’t have to wait that long! Tokai TV has announced a live-action adaptation that will begin airing on April 11th with 10 episodes, concluding on June 13th.

I’m so excited for this new drama! It’s a collaboration with Bilibili, and it’s going to star Taiki Sato as Cheng Xiaoshi and Kanata Hongo as Lu Guang – I’m a big fan of both of them! Even better, Hiroaki Yuasa, the director behind Ultraman and lots of other great shows, is at the helm. And get this – Atsuhiro Tomioka, who’s famous for working on One Piece, is the series composer! They’ve just released the first look at the main characters, but we’re still waiting for a trailer. Hopefully, we’ll get more details in March as the premiere date gets closer!

Link Click Live-Action Will Change The Setting

Because the series will air in Japan, the setting and character names have been adapted for a Japanese audience. Tokai TV recently released a preview of the studio set, which, while different from the anime version, maintains the same intriguing atmosphere. The story takes place in a vintage-style photo studio in Tokyo, where Toki (playing Cheng Xiaoshi) and Hikaru (playing Lu Guang) work as partners. But this studio isn’t just about taking pictures – it holds a secret mission to help people deal with their past regrets.

What Is The Story of Link Click?

This intriguing series centers around Xiaoshi Cheng and Guang Lu, who run a seemingly ordinary photo studio called “Time Photo Studio.” However, they offer a unique service: using their powers, they can step into photographs and fulfill clients’ wishes—with one rule: they can’t change the past. Xiaoshi can inhabit the body of the person who originally took the picture, while Guang explores the past simply by viewing the photos.

He’s the ideal companion for Xiaoshi while he’s traveling through the photos. But Xiaoshi has to follow one vital rule: he can’t change anything in the past, because even a small mistake could have disastrous consequences. Before the live-action series and the third anime season arrive, be sure to watch the first two seasons on Crunchyroll.
