Anne Burrell Left a Suicidal Note on Day of Her Death

New information has come to light about Chef Anne Burrell’s death.

Following the death of the celebrated chef on June 17th, which was determined to be a suicide, the New York Police Department confirmed to People magazine that a suicide note was found in his Brooklyn home. Police also discovered journal entries indicating suicidal thoughts, according to a police report.

According to the police report, a person whose name has been removed from the document—identified as Anne’s spouse—noticed something unusual the morning Anne died: the bed in their room had been made, which wasn’t typical.

The host of Worst Cooks in America, who married Stuart Claxton in 2021, was discovered on the bathroom floor with several over-the-counter pills nearby. According to the report, the person who found her tried to wake her by shaking and slapping her face before calling 911.

Claxton informed police that Anne had no history of suicide attempts or discussions about it. He added that, according to medical records, she hadn’t displayed any indications she was considering such an act.

TopMob News has reached out to the NYPD for comment but has not heard back.

Details surrounding the tragic death of the Food Network host have emerged months after authorities in New York City determined she died by suicide in July. The medical examiner reported the cause of death was a combination of several substances, including antihistamines, alcohol, and amphetamines.

Following the death of the 55-year-old, her loved ones shared how her enduring legacy will live on.

Anne was a deeply loved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend, remembered for her radiant smile that brightened any space. Her family, including stepson Javier Claxton, mother Marlene Burrell, and sister Jane Burrell, shared in a statement on June 17th that Anne’s positive influence extended far beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of millions. They say her warmth, spirit, and loving nature will be remembered forever.
