Olivia “Livvy” Dunne is letting go of a lifelong goal.
The gymnast from Louisiana State University shared that an unfortunate injury she sustained during her teenage years forced her to abandon her ambition of participating in the Olympics. This injury resulted in a health issue that ultimately restricted her athletic prowess.
She stated during the July 17th episode of the ‘What’s Your Story? With Stephanie McMahon’ podcast that she was competing with a damaged ankle at the 2018 USA Championships. She added that part of her ankle bone had died.
Twenty-two years old, she clarified that she had been diagnosed with Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), a health issue where the bone beneath a joint’s cartilage suffers from poor blood circulation and may limit joint mobility. She expressed that when some of her bone tissue died, so too did her aspirations for the Olympics.
I can’t help but feel the pain, recalling that incident – it was my initial significant injury as an athlete. Remarkably, despite being a gymnast, I’ve managed to avoid any surgical interventions so far, which seems quite unusual.
This year, Livvy, who had represented Team USA in 2017, was unfortunately unable to participate in her final competition because of an unrelated injury during her studies.
She shared on Instagram Stories in March that she’s been battling a patella avulsion fracture and won’t be able to participate during senior night. It’s truly heartbreaking for her not to have the chance to compete at PMAC one last time. Tiger fans, you’ve always been wonderful to her!
A month past, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, who’s in a relationship with Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, officially declared her retirement from gymnastics, having dedicated much of her life to this sport.
She commented in an Instagram post that it seems like time passes quickly when one is enjoying themselves, and this is exactly what her experience of the last twenty years in her sport has been like.
Livvy continued by expressing that her experiences on the mat significantly molded her into the individual she is now, expressing her gratitude towards her parents and mentors for encouraging her to strive for excellence.
“Time did fly by,” she concluded, “and I will cherish every memory for the rest of my life.”

Back in February 2017, Jamie Lynn Spears’ young daughter, Maddie Aldridge, was operating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) near their home in Louisiana. Unfortunately, she lost control and the ATV flipped into a pond, causing her to be submerged underwater for several minutes.
On an episode of the Maria Menounos Better Together podcast in 2020, Jamie Lynn recounted the moment when they managed to pull her from the water and feared she was gone. She said that it seemed as if we had lost our daughter.
Two days following the incident, Maddie regained consciousness and started conversing again, despite the family’s uncertainty about the extent of the harm. Approximately three weeks later, she resumed her regular activities as if nothing had happened.
Jamie Lynn expressed gratitude, saying, “God allowed me the privilege of having my daughter return to me again.” Previously, she had lost her but now has her back.
2025 action comedy titled “Bride Hard,” starring Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp, experienced an unexpected turn during the final day of filming for Rebel’s character, who portrays a secret agent. In an interview with Access Hollywood in June 2025, Rebel revealed that during a fight scene, a gun accidentally struck her face. “It was pure luck,” she said. “The gun slipped and hit my nose, causing it to split open, so I had to leave the set. It happened on my last night of filming. I couldn’t believe my bad luck!
In the midst of a sea of her own blood, she confessed about the 2023 incident: “I was utterly terrified,” she said. “They had to call an ambulance and summon a plastic surgeon immediately, as failure to do so would have left me disfigured permanently. Fortunately, we were able to secure a plastic surgeon, who performed all the necessary stitches. Now, you can’t even notice it.
Tonight Show’s host Jimmy Fallon had a close call when he nearly lost a finger at home. After tripping and falling, he attempted to break his fall using the kitchen counter. Unfortunately, his ring became wedged during the fall, yanking his finger off in the process.
He referred to it as “ring removal,” and he stayed in the hospital for ten days while doctors tried to avoid a possible amputation.
A seasoned trekker who also participates in long-distance races, aquatic competitions, and triathlons, Zane Wach, nearly collapsed due to altitude sickness during a hike with his father, Ryan Wach, on California’s Mount Whitney in June 2025.
Ryan clarified to SFGATE that the 14-year-old began perceiving imaginary scenes, such as snowmen and Kermit the Frog, which he recognized were not real.
On several occasions, Ryan successfully prevented his adolescent son from stepping off the edge of the cliff while they descended the path. The father remarked, “He appeared to be in an unusual mental condition, and I’m unsure about what triggered it. We’re still trying to figure it out.” In my opinion, it was likely a mix of fatigue, lack of sleep, possible dehydration, and lingering effects from the altitude sickness that led him to question reality.
On the third try, Ryan found himself too distant to save Zane as his son plummeted about 120 feet from the cliff edge. After enduring a six-hour wait for an Inyo County Search & Rescue helicopter to arrive and transport Zane to Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine, he was stabilized before being transferred to a pediatric trauma center in Las Vegas. Put into a medically induced coma, Zane eventually resumed breathing independently.
Ryan predicted that their situation would eventually become a tale about survival, given the teen’s injuries including head trauma, a broken finger, ankle, and fractured pelvis. However, he emphasized that they were currently still in the midst of dealing with it.
2023’s New Year’s Day found me, an ardent admirer, standing in the snow-laden driveway of Jeremy Renner’s Lake Tahoe abode. The man behind Hawkeye was attempting to rescue a truck entangled in the snow using a mighty snowplow. However, as he alighted from this behemoth, a twist of fate occurred. In his heroic bid to prevent the plow from injuring his young nephew, he found himself unexpectedly ensnared under its relentless grip. This harrowing encounter left him with an astonishing 38 fractured bones.
In his 2025 memoir titled “My Next Breath,” he described how, as he lay frozen on the ice on New Year’s Day, his heartbeat grew sluggish. Unbeknownst to his daughter, sisters, friends, father, and mother, it was at that moment that he simply grew weary. Thirty minutes later, after exerting himself by manually breathing for a prolonged period, equivalent to doing multiple push-ups per minute for half an hour, he passed away on the ice.
In the midst of battling broken bones, excessive bleeding, and the imminent danger of hypothermia, he penned down, “I believe I’ve passed away—in fact, I am convinced of it.” Upon the arrival of the emergency medical team, they observed that my heart rate had dropped critically low to 18 beats per minute, at which point, you could practically consider someone as deceased.
In May 2025, Emilie Kiser and her husband Brady Kiser experienced a heart-wrenching ordeal when their 3-year-old son Trigg Kiser accidentally fell into the pool at their residence in Arizona.
The Chandler Police Department shared with USA Today that they responded to an emergency call concerning a drowning incident at a home on May 12. A child had been found unresponsive in a backyard pool. On-site, officers and firefighters performed CPR before transporting the young child to Chandler Regional Hospital. Regrettably, after six days, the toddler passed away.
Later on, Emilie initiated a legal action against Maricopa County’s public offices, asking the court to prevent the disclosure of information related to her husband’s demise. According to the lawsuit, “Emilie is making every effort to support her surviving son, two-month-old Theodore.” However, each day presents a struggle for her.
I, as a devoted follower, can’t help but share the harrowing ordeal that rocked the life of Dr. Cara Hodgson in December 2023. What was initially planned as a family vacation to Thailand turned into the most grueling 10 days she has ever experienced. A tragic encounter with power lines left her electrocuted, plunging her into darkness and a frantic rush to the ER. The following week and a half were a brutal rollercoaster of in-and-out hospital stays, where she battled tirelessly to regain her strength and fight for her life. In a poignant New Year’s Day Instagram post, she shared her gratitude for being alive today.
Through the discomfort, the orthodontist discovered another reason to find joy – a valuable lesson that often gets overlooked when we’re preoccupied with minor details: The extraordinary gift of life itself. Cara articulated this thought, “The simple acts like breathing, eating, speaking, and moving our bodies are truly remarkable, they are something to cherish and appreciate.
2025 found me witnessing an unfortunate incident while hiking on the active volcano, Mount Rinjani, in Indonesia as a dedicated follower of adventures. In June of that year, I unfortunately slipped off a cliff edge (not into the volcano’s crater). Overcoming obstacles such as unfavorable weather, challenging terrain, and poor visibility conditions in the area, a team of 48 search and rescue personnel spent four grueling days to locate my body. The Brazilian government shared this news in an official statement.
Today, the rescue team successfully made it to the location where Juliana Marins was, according to a post on an Instagram account offering updates from her family. With heavy hearts, we share the tragic news that she did not make it. We are deeply appreciative of all the prayers, expressions of love, and support we have received.
At a 2015 Easter brunch held at Japanese eatery Benihana, Tori Spelling – famously known for her role in Beverly Hills, 90210 – accidentally fell and scorched her right arm on one of the Hibachi grills. Subsequently, she needed skin grafts to heal from the injury, leading her to file a lawsuit against the restaurant.
She revealed in a 2024 episode of her podcast with Jennie Garth, 9021OMG, that they had to perform a skin graft on her, taking it from her leg. This means she now has a part of her thigh on her arm. It’s not a joke; she’s literally wearing a layer of her thigh on her arm because the skin on her arm was severely burned.
In June 2024, during France’s Rock&Cars festival, comedian Tony Knight tragically lost his life when two large tree branches fell on him. According to Joanne Allen, Tony’s longtime partner Hayley Wright’s sister, he was just 54 years old and enjoying every moment of it. “He was full of vitality, in excellent health, happy, and thriving,” she wrote in a GoFundMe post. “Tony was charming, hilarious, dedicated.
In her Instagram post, Haley expressed that he was an incredibly versatile man, capable of many things, stating “There was truly nothing he couldn’t accomplish.” He was cherished as a wonderful friend by numerous people, an exceptional dog parent, and above all, he was her universe. She shared that life will never be the same without him.
In January 2024, the joyous 25th anniversary celebration for software company Vistex based in Chicago took an unexpected and tragic turn. As planned, CEO Sanjay Shah and President Vishwanath Raju Datla were supposed to descend from an iron cage onto a dais during the party held in India. However, two wires failed, causing them to fall onto the hard concrete stage instead. This information was reported by The Times of India.
According to news reports, Sanjay, aged 56, succumbed to his wounds in the hospital after an accident, whereas Vishwanath, age 52, endured a critical head wound that ultimately led to his passing several months later.
At 19 years old, Orlando Bloom revealed on a joint Instagram video with UNICEF in 2022 that he had fallen three stories from a window. He and his friends were attempting to ascend the rooftop terrace of a three-story building using a drainpipe, which unfortunately gave way. Despite suffering multiple broken vertebrae in his back, he miraculously survived because his spinal cord remained undamaged.
Initially, during my hospital stay, I was informed that it was uncertain if I would ever walk again. This news marked the start of an extended and difficult process for me as I began to identify and comprehend patterns in my life that had contributed to multiple accidents. Ultimately, this led to my breaking my back, which was a close call with death.
In 2005, he confided in GQ that immediately after being discharged from the hospital with a back brace and an overwhelming mix of physical and emotional discomfort, he plunged straight into socializing – even while wearing his brace. It took him around two months to understand that this was his life, and he didn’t want to jeopardize it.
He stated that the experience has shaped every aspect of his life, noting that one doesn’t fully understand its value until it’s nearly lost. Previously, he would drive motorbikes and cars as if they were race tracks, which was quite reckless. This wasn’t due to a desire for coolness, but rather a love for living dangerously. However, he has since become more laid-back.
